Positive Meeting with Go Wellington
- Mt Victoria Residents Association
- Good progress has been made with Go Wellington in an effort to resolve the issue of out-of-service buses using the Pirie Street bus tunnel.According to the Greater Wellington Council bylaw, only scheduled services that have been registered with the Council may use the tunnel. At a meeting convened by GWRC, Go Wellington acknowledged that there was an imperfect understanding of the rules by some drivers, and undertook to educate staff better.

Editorial: What About The Creche?
- Mt Victoria Residents Association
- The Dominion Post printed an article on the sale of Crossways yesterday, which noted that the historic property had been sold. But absent from the newspaper was any discussion about the fate of Mt Victoria’s creche, which will need to vacate Crossways by the beginning of October. The Wellington City Council has been steadfastly opposed to keeping Crossways as a community centre, despite its importance to Mt Victoria.

Crossways Is Lost
- Mt Victoria Residents Association
- Despite the thousands of hours of volunteer work, a million dollars in fundraising and the efforts of a whole community, the Presbyterian Church has decided to sell Crossways to another buyer. The Church announced today that they had accepted an offer of $1.31 million from an un-named purchaser who will convert the building back into a family home. While we are consoled that Crossways is unlikely to be demolished, it’s a sad end to three decades of community heritage. The Church’s actions - and the Council’s inaction - have been roundly condemned by many commentators.

Banalitecture
- Eye of the Fish
- I’ve just spotted this blank wall being constructed beside the main route into the city from the airport. Facing north, providing a beautiful backdrop for shadow play of pohutukawa, as well as a future venue for no doubt countless mindless scribblings, is a blank wall.
