- Now it is September, you can enter this years ShootOut Competition for only $20.00. Now that Spring is here scores should be more competitive with greater run on the fairways. For the mens competition the 19th score so far is only 224, so plenty of chances to better that.

Whitemans Valley storm
- Wellington Veterans Cycling Club
- Due to the recent storm the roads in Whitemans Valley have been seriously affected by slips, trees blown over and power lines taken out. There are a number of different areas between Wallaceville Hill and Blue Mtns Hill that contractors are currently working on. However it is still teaming with rain at 11.30am Thursday and flooding could also be an issue. It would pay to find an alternative training ride if you use these roads.

Winner of the Tanadees Challenge Cup for the senior men's handicap race over 8k was Michael Hardiman (again), continuing the line of Michaels (Hardiman and Browne) who have been winners over the past four years. Runners-up were Peter Plowman and Adrian Shields. On the women's side, women's captain Belinda Buck takes away the Arkwright Cup for 2008, ahead of Catherine Manchester and Pam Graham. Quickest man over the 8k course was Grant McLean (25:20) and quickest woman, Michele Allison (31:51).

Snip Snap: Sardines, Oysters, Snappers … and Tagging
- Eye of the Fish
- It’s hard to imagine the joy I felt this morning catching the bus to work and finally seeing someone else actually using a Snapper Card. I had been quietly trying to convince myself that the seemingly slow uptake of this local version of London’s Oyster card was due to unspent currency of 10-ride bus tickets - but alas there always seemed to be too much hard cash being exchanged between driver and passenger to validate this one.

Crossways Is Lost
- Mt Victoria Residents Association
- Despite the thousands of hours of volunteer work, a million dollars in fundraising and the efforts of a whole community, the Presbyterian Church has decided to sell Crossways to another buyer. The Church announced today that they had accepted an offer of $1.31 million from an un-named purchaser who will convert the building back into a family home. While we are consoled that Crossways is unlikely to be demolished, it’s a sad end to three decades of community heritage. The Church’s actions - and the Council’s inaction - have been roundly condemned by many commentators.

Preservatives
- Te Papa's blog

Banalitecture
- Eye of the Fish
- I’ve just spotted this blank wall being constructed beside the main route into the city from the airport. Facing north, providing a beautiful backdrop for shadow play of pohutukawa, as well as a future venue for no doubt countless mindless scribblings, is a blank wall. Courtesy of the ArcHaus architectural team.
