Another tasty tit bit
- The Wellingtonista
- Enjoy gallery is hosting the penultimate event in their performance workshopping series tonight. Of course, dear reader, it would be outrageous to suggest that you have no other social engagements lined up for the Saturday of a long weekend, but if you can forgive me once again for the short notice, may I suggest that you nip up to the Enjoy gallery on Cuba St (upstairs near Scopa).

- Karori Baptist Church
- I’ve been continuing to reflect on the “Sanctuary Picture” which we’ve been using as a way of helping us understand and explain what we sense God has called us to as a church community.

Vosseler Shield, Mt Victoria, 24 May 2008
- Wellington Scottish Athletics Club
- It was a day when the trails around Mt Vic had their own water features that were topped up periodically. Underfoot it was muddy and greasy - blunt spikes or nobby trail shoes seemed to be the weapons of choice - but atmospherically conditions were good. Plenty of yellow singlets were in evidence in all four starts.

This should be more popular: Chef's Cafe
- The Wellingtonista
- At the top of Cuba Street, opposite Fidel's and next to a sex shop is what appears to be a crappy little tea room named Chef's Cafe. You might think that they're going to try and sell you a pie and a custard square, but you couldn't be more wrong. See that little sandwich board outside that says "Takeaway Curry $10"? That's right, this is an Indian restaurant. And it's good. And it's insanely cheap*.

- As I write this, I’m celebrating! Manchester United has just won the European Champions League final - and Manchester United is MY TEAM!! But as I’ve thought about this, it’s occurred to me that this is all a little “odd”.

From Mike’s Desk …
- Karori Baptist Church
- Every Thursday morning at 7am, we have a prayer meeting at the church for those involved in leadership roles at KBC. We spend some time talking about the things relating to church life that are on our hearts and minds, and we pray together about them. Last Thursday, as we shared and prayed, I was struck by the fact that so much of what we were talking and praying about fitted so well with our “Sanctuary Metaphor”.

Karori Slapperz 5 - Upper Hutt 2
- Karori Slapperz AFC
- This week saw the Slapperz up against the fine specimens of Upper Hutt. Home at Karori Park, the boys were looking to continue with their rich vein of football that people have come accustom to in the last few weeks.

Wellington Hospital - the 800lb gorilla sitting in the corner that no one admits is there
- Eye of the Fish
- For the last two years since the demolition of the antiquated Wellington hospital, a massive construction has been taking place in Newtown, balanced on its giant rubber base-isolated foundations. Yes it’s too late to ignore it anymore - the hospital has reached a state of completion that, while still some way to go, affords us a chance to review the progress so far.

General Meeting - May
- Wellington VHF Group
- The next General Meeting of the Wellington VHF Group will be held on Thursday 29 May at the Tawa Community Centre. Our guest speaker will be Mr Rex Aubrey of the New Zealand Red Cross. Rex is actively involved in assisting the Red Cross from a communications and technology perspective and this has synergy with what Amateurs are already active with in the world of AREC - Rex is well known to many AREC participants through his involvement in Search and Rescue and we look forward to hearing his presentation on this most relevant of subjects, considering recent events in Burma and China.

Bikes free on trains from July 1
- The Wellingtonista
- In an effort to encourage people to leave their cars at home, Greater Wellington has announced that from July 1 this year, bikes can ride on trains for free. At the moment, travelling by rail with your bike will cost you another adult fare. Sounds like a good idea to us.

Premier v Miramar - 03/05/08 - D 0-0
- Island Bay United AFC
- On Saturday Island Bay Capital Premier played Miramar, who had recently been thumped by both Tawa and Wairarapa. It was clear early on that our oppositions confidence had been shaken by the previous weeks experiences and we looked by far the more capable team.
