R3 Woman Vs YMCA 19/08/07 Won 3 - 2
- Upper Hutt Hockey Club
- Star of the day was Sonja Jeffs with a hat trick! She had some great passes from right wing Chrissy across the circle and she was in the right spot each time to smack it into the goal! We are going to be in semi's in a couple of weeks so everyone come along for support! Lisa

- t was a hard fought game which unfortunately did not bring about the win upper hutt so desperately wanted. A generally well contested game was marred by a brain explosion by the Northern Goalie who pushed over an upper hutt player well after the play of the ball. Too few opportunities were created on attack and despite having more PC's than in previous games the execution was terrible.

Good sports
- WellUrban
- There's a Waterfront Development Subcommittee meeting on tomorrow night, and for once, I'm not going to put myself through all that pain. While there's no single development up for specific debate, this time, feedback is due on the entire draft Waterfront Development Plan, so all the interested parties are having their say.Of the 633 written submissions, 604 were about the future of indoor sport given the changes to Sheds 1 and 6; and in particular, most of these called for the ground floor of Site 10 to become the new indoors sports venue, along the lines of what I've also been suggesting.

Mt Cook summit
- WellUrban
- Mt Cook has been facing a few changes recently, and the locals have been vocal in their response. The next step is a well-publicised public meeting tomorrow night, and it will be interesting to see what comes out of that.Quite apart from specific issues of supermarkets, swimming pools and traffic, I get the feeling that Mt Cook has long faced a more fundamental question: one of identity.

Womens A - BNU Grand Champions vs Lower Hutt Zimmers
- Brooklyn Northern United AFC
- Twas the final game of the season proper. And in more ways that one. This, in essence, was a real final, as, if you’d done the maths, without a win here the deserved title of champions could inconceivably go to someone other than us.

Outward bound
- Karori Sanctuary Trust
- Until now wildlife has arrived at Karori Sanctuary on a one-way ticket. But seven years after the first birds were released at the Sanctuary, bird numbers are booming and the Sanctuary is about to make its first outbound transfer - taking ten of its North Island robins to supplement the small population on Matiu/Somes Island.

Slapperz v North Wellington

- The omens were all bad though right from the start. A foul wind was blowing. Wrighty appeared to be suffering from some tropical disease. And a real ref pitched up wearing his tight turquoise strip.

Keep Buckle St where it is say Memorial Park Competition entrants
- Mt Cook mobilised
- Memorial Park competition entrants all favoured leaving Buckle street in its present location, according to the Wellurban blog entry It’s a competitive world. I don’t know to what extent being briefed on the air quality and pedestrian safety concerns of local residents influenced design entries, but all opted for trenching Buckle St., or putting a bridge over it, and leaving it where it is.

A sporting site
- WellUrban
- Submissions on the Draft Waterfront Development Plan close on Friday, and while my opinion on most of it is just "get on with it", there's one area where I'll be promoting a specific change. While the ground floors of Sites 8, 9 and 10 have been designated simply as "retail", I think that Site 10 should be explicitly set aside as an indoor sports facility to replace Sheds 1 and 6.

Lads with Minerals
- Karori Slapperz AFC
- A controversial decision by Wellington Soccer to close the home of football, resulted in a late ground and time change to 12.30 at McAllister Park. The guys turned up, still obviously miffed by this disappointment. It is every young Karori players dream to run out onto on the No.1 turf in the 2.30 time slot when the whole community can be heard cheering on the black and whites from the welcoming pavilion balcony setting.

R3 Woman Vs Indians 05/08/07 Won 4 - 0
- Upper Hutt Hockey Club
- Great goals scored by Casey O'Leary (she was out of her usual position of back and was up on the right wing, looked like a bit of a diving shot but think she just fell over!), Wendy Horne (had a short spell at centre forward instead of wing and had her 5 seconds of fame for 1st time this year!), Maree Houston (great goal by Maree, as usual she was in the right place for good shot!) & Debbie Woolcott (great hit from a PC deflected defenders stick into top corner!). Some nice saves by goalie Lyn kept all of there shots out! Great passing and team work gave us a good result.

Any port in a storm

- The long-awaited Port Café at Chaffers Dock finally opened yesterday, and I had a chance to pop in for lunch today. I nearly had a heart attack, but not from the grease: the mains were mostly over $20, which was not what I was expecting from a casual café and takeaway!

Jubilee Cup Semi-final Previews
- Wellington Club Weekly
- Jubilee Cup fans who missed Petone's thrilling 39-34 last-gasp victory over top qualifier MSP last week won't want to miss their return semi-final match-up at Evans Bay Park. Experienced winger Willie Moala capped an all-action encounter by scoring the match-winning try in the shadow of fulltime to set up a mouth watering playoff duel between the two teams this week.

Traffic concerns denied
- Mt Cook mobilised
- The Wellington City Council and the Wellington Road Policing Unit reckon no-one has complained about pedestrian safety at the intersections of Buckle, Taranaki and Arthur Sts, according to a Citylife article last week, “School sees red over drivers running lights”. Clearly Mt Cook School disagrees, as do a number of residents who have called both the Police and the Council about safety at the two major Buckle Street intersections near the school. More on this shortly…
