Happy New Year from team DCM
- Downtown Community Ministry
- Here at DCM, we like to celebrate the special moments that can be found in each and every day. In 2021, we have been sharing one such moment every week via our social media channels - on “Taumai Tuesday”. Here we look back on a year of Taumai Tuesdays... We celebrated when taumai moved into their own homes, often after many years of homelessness - like Peter and Jason. Jason sent us a letter soon after: "Dear DCM crew, I would like to express my gratitude to all of you for helping me onto the next step of my journey and finding me a house. I'd like to acknowledge the humbleness and humility within your organisation, and the way you all treated me as nothing less than human. For that I am truly grateful."

Is it safe to swim?
- Upper Hutt City Council
- Summer in Upper Hutt is often long and warm, bringing less rain and dry winds. With warmer temperatures and lower water levels, cyanobacteria (also known as freshwater toxic algae), can grow in our waterways and form extensive blooms. These can be dangerous, particularly to dogs if they eat algae mats that wash up along the edges of rivers and lakes.

42m is TOO Tall
- Eye of the Fish
- While there is a need for good commentary on the Draft District Plan, expecting us ordinary citizens to go about our everyday jobs and still have the coherence to comment authoritatively on several hundred pages of new District Plan is asking a little too much of this particular Fish and their day job.
