North Island Optimist champs a great success
- Worser Bay Boating Club
- Video by Mark Tantrum The Optimist North Island Championships held over the weekend of 15 and 16 November were a resounding success. The racing on the water was tight and and the entertainment on the shore was entertaining! The Photographer & The Driver — Two Sailors, One Camera, and a Lot of Opinions
- Worser Bay Boating Club
- I had the very good fortune (and occasional splash to the lens) of being up close and personal with the entire WBBC fleet at the Optimist North Islands this weekend. Beside me was my skipper, Luke O’Connell (aka Colt), National champ and a world-class sailor who, put the boat exactly where I needed it every time. - Worser Bay Boating Club
- The WBBC coaching team joined forces with our friends from Plimmerton Boating Club for a Coaching for Efficiency workshop, run by James Hardaker, NZ High Performance Dive Coach, who generously shared 22 years of wisdom (and an admirable level of patience). Thirty coaches in one room; what could possibly go wrong? Thankfully, not much. Instead, we found ourselves knee-deep in the art and craft of coaching: the 5 Ps — Professionalism, Punctuality, Preparedness, Passion, and Positivity...

Autonomous Weather Boat for Yacht Clubs - EV SPRING
- Worser Bay Boating Club
- by Caelan Taylor EV Spring I have always wanted to build an autonomous boat but this had not been supported due to its cost and the time involved. However this got support from my Dad when I came up with the weather boat idea at the beginning of the year as the project I would tackle for Level 3 NCEA Digital Technology. The project completed for level 2 NCEA was a yacht racing start system and I wanted to do a project in 2025 that was yachting focused of which the autonomous weather boat...

French Waterways Trip, 2025
- Worser Bay Boating Club
- By Mike Cathie Port in Charmes, Canal des Vosges Fond memories of a week’s charter on the Canal du Midi (south-western France) back in 2012 were enough to convince, she that needed to be convinced, that a more extended stint on the beautiful French inland waterways could be a good thing. The opportunity to avoid our Wellington winter and enjoy a full European summer being an added bonus. Helpful advice was sought from seasoned and enthusiastic WBBC European inland waterway boaters Joe...
