Coastguard Mana / January 2019

Coastguard Mana is an affiliated member of Coastguard New Zealand and is a Unit of Coastguard Central Region. We are based at the Mana Cruising Club / Mana Marina on the west coast of the North Island, just up the road from Wellington. Our area of responsibility covers the Mana inshore recreational area and the northern end of Cook Strait across to the top of the Marlborough Sounds.

    • Vessel broken down requiring tow
      • Operation Details Date/Time:  Thu, 31/01/2019 - 19:45 - 21:45 Operation Type:  CG Operation (good samaritan) People Assisted:  2 Total Volunteer Hours:  10 Aborted training Session and went to aid of vessel broken down 2 NM from Porirua Harbour entrance on way to Mana Island.  Took under tow 14 foot fibreglass vessel "Catch U Up".  Found 50 M off Titahi Bay Point 10M North of entrance to Titahi Bay.  Rough surf, vessel under anchor and 2 POB wearing life jackets.  Towed to Mana Marina and drove the to their trailer under the bridges.
