Coastguard Mana / April 2011
Coastguard Mana is an affiliated member of Coastguard New Zealand and is a Unit of Coastguard Central Region. We are based at the Mana Cruising Club / Mana Marina on the west coast of the North Island, just up the road from Wellington. Our area of responsibility covers the Mana inshore recreational area and the northern end of Cook Strait across to the top of the Marlborough Sounds.

Mana Ocean Race Challenge

- Operation Details Date/Time: Sat, 30/04/2011 - 09:00 - 15:00 Operation Type: Other People Assisted: 10 Coastguard Mana spent the day on the water with a crew of volunteers to assist the organisers of the Mana Ocean Race Challenge - a 29km paddle for outrigger canoes, kayaks and surf skis that took them from Mana to Paraparaumu Beach. Conditions on the day started off calm with light southerlies, but the wind built to around 20 knots later in the course creating some more challenging seas conditions for the competitors. Porirua Grand Traverse

- Operation Details Date/Time: Sun, 03/04/2011 - 09:00 - 16:30 Operation Type: CG Operation (good samaritan) People Assisted: 40 Coastguard Mana had a boat and a vehicle out for the day to support the on-the-water component of the Porirua Grand Traverse, the kayaking on Porirua Harbour / Paremata Inlet. The kayak course took competitors from Onepoto Rowing Club, under the bridges into Paremata Inlet and then back to the finish line at the other end of Porirua Harbour by Whiteraia Polytech.
