Coastguard Mana / July 2012

Coastguard Mana is an affiliated member of Coastguard New Zealand and is a Unit of Coastguard Central Region. We are based at the Mana Cruising Club / Mana Marina on the west coast of the North Island, just up the road from Wellington. Our area of responsibility covers the Mana inshore recreational area and the northern end of Cook Strait across to the top of the Marlborough Sounds.

    • Search & tow from Makara area
      • Operation Details Date/Time:  Sun, 08/07/2012 - 18:00 - 21:00 Operation Type:  SAROP Cat 1 People Assisted:  2 Total Volunteer Hours:  21 Police call out to a 14' runabout reported broken down 2.5km east of Makara.  Vessel was located by police launch Lady Liz IV half kilometer off Makara.  Police stayed with the vessel until Trust Porirua Rescue arrived on scene to take the boat under tow.  Boat was towed back to Mana Marina by coastguard.
