Coastguard Mana / April 2018

Coastguard Mana is an affiliated member of Coastguard New Zealand and is a Unit of Coastguard Central Region. We are based at the Mana Cruising Club / Mana Marina on the west coast of the North Island, just up the road from Wellington. Our area of responsibility covers the Mana inshore recreational area and the northern end of Cook Strait across to the top of the Marlborough Sounds.

      • Operation Details Date/Time:  Sat, 07/04/2018 - 08:30 - 09:30 Operation Type:  CG Operation (good samaritan) People Assisted:  5 Total Volunteer Hours:  8 Reported capsizing of one x Waka with 5 persons onboard in the Plimmerton area and one Waka in difficulties in the Onepoto area.  IMT set up at CG Mana base, MR2 and crew ready, vessel launched on standby for 1 hr - stood down after confirmation of Waka crews were safely onshore.
