Coastguard Mana / August 2019
Coastguard Mana is an affiliated member of Coastguard New Zealand and is a Unit of Coastguard Central Region. We are based at the Mana Cruising Club / Mana Marina on the west coast of the North Island, just up the road from Wellington. Our area of responsibility covers the Mana inshore recreational area and the northern end of Cook Strait across to the top of the Marlborough Sounds.

Runabout swamped on the beach

- Operation Details Date/Time: Sun, 04/08/2019 - 12:45 - 15:00 Operation Type: CG Operation (good samaritan) People Assisted: 2 Total Volunteer Hours: 9 A 15' runabout was swamped on the beach at Green Bay after pulling up on the beach. A wave, larger than normal, took them by surprise and swamped the boat. They were able to bail it out but by the time they had done that the waves were pushing the boat further up the beach and they were unable to get away. Yacht aground in Porirua Harbour

- Operation Details Date/Time: Fri, 02/08/2019 - 08:30 - 11:30 Operation Type: CG Operation (good samaritan) People Assisted: 1 Total Volunteer Hours: 15 Yacht Jackjumper broken mooring and drifted onto sandbank. Hard aground. Used main anchor to kedge bow around, rafted up and returned to mooring. Refastened. As short of crew took two harbour rangers out ot assist as owners rep. Wind increased from 30 knot NW to 45 knot NW.
