A Ngaio Gorge cycleway
- Wellington Region Cycleways
- This post is a thought for the future, being a little ahead of the curve. After we’ve built the Great Harbour Way and we’ve built the bike lanes across the Cake Tin concourse, and Wellington is a city of trams and ferries and bicycles we might like to consider developing this idea.

Whare Waka
- Eye of the Fish
- Whither to, waiwhetu… While we’re waiting with willing Waitangi welcome, windy Wellington’s waka wends wetly with Waiwhetu, where wrangles wearily wear worrisomely.

Cinephilia: Opening This Week
- The Wellingtonista
- I understand that New Zealand is proportionally the biggest market in the world for dance movies – the Step Ups, Stomping the Yards, dance battle films are huge here – so I wonder whether that will hold true for a psychological drama set in the world of classical ballet.

Webstock directions: rock out, tweet up
- The Wellingtonista
- We’re not going to bother telling you about Webstock because a) you should already know all about it and b) there was only one ticket left as of this morning (although there are still tickets to the ONYAs available, so get on that.

Camping at Circa
- The Wellingtonista
- While lots of Wellingtonians are off holidaying in remote parts of the country (huddling under canvas, finding sandbags to keep the creek out, hoping the caravan doesn’t blow away) Circa Theatre have kindly brought the camp site to those of us who stayed at home – in the form of Dave Armstrong’s new play The Motor Camp.

Department of Linky Love: The Examiner
- The Wellingtonista
- It’s nice to see some solid local news reporting over at new Wellington website The Examiner. The Examiner says it aims to be “… a site where we look deeper and think harder about the city we live in and the issues that matter to us. It is also a forum for telling Wellingtonians’ stories, especially for people who would not otherwise have a voice.” Neat. Welcome, The Examiner.

Vanishing appears

Wishbone blows, harder
- The Wellingtonista
- In case kinda nasty and over-priced food, and rumoured worker exploitation weren’t reason enough to dislike the (surprisingly-successful) Wishbone, how about this for some odious sentiment: Said by Barbra Streisand, apparently The internets suggest that the quote should actually read “eating only the top half of each slice”, but frankly that doesn’t even make sense.

Cinephilia: Opening This Week
- The Wellingtonista
- This weekend, film fans, you can watch the new animated Yogi Bear movie in two different formats, compare the two and then have an erudite discussion of the related strengths and weaknesses of the new “re-booted franchise” versus the beloved, barely 2D, original.
