Overdue diver at Owhiro Bay

- Operation Details Date/Time: Wed, 30/12/2020 - 12:00 - 12:30 Operation Type: SAROP Cat 1 People Assisted: 1 Total Volunteer Hours: 3 Whilst returning with a tow job to Plimmerton Boating Club we heard a mayday relay on CH16 from MOC advising vessels in the area of Owhiro Bay that there was a missing/overdue diver in the water, requesting assistance to search for them. We contacted Police to see if they wanted our assistance to search the area. They requested us to respond to Owhiro Bay and we quickly returned to Mana Marina to take on more fuel and pick up some extra crew. Whilst preparing to depart we were stood down because the diver was located on shore safe and well. Bus corridors, paying for Park and Ride and pets on public transport up for consultation in Wellington plan
- Greater Wellington Regional Council
- New regional bus corridors, paying for parking at train station Park and Rides, and pets on public transport are among public consultation topics in the draft Wellington Regional Public Transport Plan 2025-2035. Feedback is also being sought on cash free buses and the redevelopment of Waterloo Station into a transport hub with commercial and community spaces. Greater Wellington chair Daran Ponter says the plan proposes affordable investments that improve the passenger experience and encourage people away from using private vehicles.

- Operation Details Date/Time: Sat, 19/03/2022 - 11:45 - 13:45 Operation Type: SAROP Cat 1 People Assisted: 2 Total Volunteer Hours: 6 A runabout broke down off Kapiti Island and K2 Rescue went out to pick them up. It turned out that they were from Mana. K2 requested that we do a handover to free them up for other likely jobs in their area. Broken down yacht grounded in channel

- Operation Details Date/Time: Sat, 15/11/2014 - 15:00 - 16:30 Operation Type: SAROP Cat 1 People Assisted: 1 Total Volunteer Hours: 9 A 30ft yacht broke down just after departing it's swing mooring in the Porirua Harbour channel by the railway bridge at Paremata. The engine would not restart and the 30+ knot winds quickly blew the yacht onto the sand on the side of the channel. The Crazyman multisports race

Porirua Hospital Museum
- The Porirua Hospital Museum and Resource Centre is housed in F-Ward, built in 1909 as part of the Porirua Hospital campus. It records the history of the development of mental health services in New Zealand from what can be considered their inception in 1844. The Museum, a Category 1 historic place, contains a collection of artefacts from the history of Porirua Hospital, including its time as a psychiatric facility.

The Thistle Inn
- The Thistle Inn was built in 1840. she is the oldest hotel in NZ still trading from the original site. In July 1866 she was burnt to the ground but by December the same year she was back operating. You will see the original beer cellar through the glass floor. She is a Category 1 historic place building and was completely restored in 2004 (as close as possible to how she was in 1866).
