      • Round 1 is done and dusted for the W League team, and we’ve gone through unbeaten, and very pleased to be 5 points clear from our closest rivals Wellington Utd & Palmy North Marist. The last two games of the round saw us face a strengthened Wairarapa at home. We knew this wouldn’t be the same team that allowed us to beat them 20-0 in the Kelly Cup, and we were right. Wairarapa came out to compete, and their shape, compactness and tireless efforts meant we were finding them hard to break down.

In most cases these birds are not injured and are not in need of any extra care. In fact they often have a much better chance of surviving to adulthood if they are left in their own habitat. Wellington SPCA has put together some key points about baby and young birds to help you decide what to do if you find a bird out of the nest.

With the great surface of Davey F having some work done, the game was relocated to a pitch right at the other end of the scale, Miramar Park. Both teams were playing a fairly cautious game in the first 20 minutes as they looked to come to grips with the difficult surface and it became clear that the team who made least defensive mistakes would probably pick up the points today.

Read the story here Empty Bowls is back!   Empty Bowls is an amazing opportunity to buy beautifully crafted ceramic bowls from some of New Zealand's finest potters with 100% of the proceeds going directly to DCM. Bowls will be available at Moore Wilson's from Saturday 2nd September, and over the coming weeks we'll be showcasing some of the items up for grabs on our Facebook page. This event raised just under $20,000 for DCM in 2015 and we're immensely grateful to the Wellington Potters' Association, Otaki Pottery Club, the Woolshed Potters and to Moore Wilson's for making this event possible. DCM's Bookfair is next week! Our major fundraiser of the year is almost here - next Saturday 5th August at Shed 6, 8am - 8pm.       • On Saturday 4th December 2010, BRONZ (Biker’s Rights of NZ) Wellington Inc are holding their first every charity motorbike ride in support of Wellington SPCA – and they need your support! This fantastic event will see a group of bikers and bike enthusiasts riding up the beautiful Kapiti Coast as far as Waikanae and then heading back down to Wellington – stopping off along the way to collect donations of pet food, blankets, towels and cash! Show your support for Wellington SPCA – please come along to any of the collection points listed below with your donation. This is also a fabulous opportunity for anyone with a keen eye to check out some awesome machines.
