Gardens Magic Update
- WCC Watch
- So we were wrong – there is no Gardens Magic tonight. Jess Chambers’ show was last night. Incidentally, the council are making announcements like this via their Twitter feed rather than on their website. Seems a bit short sighted to me, I think a lot of people would go straight to the website.

Demolition not the Answer
- Eye of the Fish
- So: the results are out from the Commissioners: Mark Dunajtschik may not demolish the “Harcourts” building. When failure leads to success
- Victoria University of Wellington
- As power poles age throughout the decades, the danger of them failing increases—and so, too, does the risk of electrocutions and power outages. Lines companies are not always able to predict when poles are about to fail—a problem that one Victoria University of Wellington researcher is working with Viclink to solve.

Ika Rere

- It’s wonderful to see that the dreams of East by West Ferries have come true, with the launching of the Ika Rere, the brand new electric ferry that will ply its way from Wellington to Eastbourne and back. It is a striking design, with the twin prows of the catamaran almost vertical for chopping through the waves of the harbour, and a vibrant acqua / turquoise colour scheme all over, tying in with the branding of Meridian, electric company / weather forecast sponsor.

A City for People
- Decades of inaction have meant house prices are out of control, while old rental properties rot out from underneath us. A whole generation of people are at risk of being forced out from the central city into new suburbs sprawling north, spending hours every day in traffic jams. We believe the Spatial Plan will allow Wellington to plan for the future so that new generations of Wellingtonians can share the city we love, and have a chance to live in a home that is affordable, accessible, healthy and warm.
