    • There's a Waterfront Development Subcommittee meeting on tomorrow night, and for once, I'm not going to put myself through all that pain. While there's no single development up for specific debate, this time, feedback is due on the entire draft Waterfront Development Plan, so all the interested parties are having their say.Of the 633 written submissions, 604 were about the future of indoor sport given the changes to Sheds 1 and 6; and in particular, most of these called for the ground floor of Site 10 to become the new indoors sports venue, along the lines of what I've also been suggesting.

    • This was a weekend SAREX designed to test comms on the South Coast, as well as the ability of the teams to handle the conditions! And with the "10 Year Storm" going on, it was a test. A lot of work had gone in over the week before to get the new cross band repeaters built, as you would have read in Q-Bit. These were installed on Mt Misery on the Saturday morning. The base was set up and the teams dispatched. We did a HF radio test with a Pulsar, and learnt a few things about getting wet. read more

Out of over 800 entries, 74 young writers had their competition entries chosen by our judges, Tessa Duder and James Norcliffe.  Each of your writers submitted one piece that was judged to be among the best of teenage writing for 2016. This is an outstanding achievement. No other school in New Zealand had as many young writers selected for publication, so well done Wellington High School! • • Return of standard Metlink fares for under 25s

    • Fare changes are coming soon for passengers aged 24 and under, following the government’s decision to withdraw funding for age-based concessions. From 1 May 2024, following the rollback of the former government’s age-based concessions on Metlink services: children aged 5 to 16, or older if still at secondary school, will pay half the adult fare, fares for people aged 17 to 24 will return to full price, unless they qualify for an alternative tertiary or Community Connect concession, under 5s will continue to travel for free on all services. Greater Wellington Transport committee chair Thomas Nash says the change will be felt by young people and whānau across the region, who are already struggling with the high cost of living. “I don’t want to end these concessions – we know they have made a big difference to people,” Cr Nash says.

    • Operation Details Date/Time:  Sat, 29/06/2013 - 11:00 - 12:45 Operation Type:  CG Operation (good samaritan) People Assisted:  4 Total Volunteer Hours:  10 A 34' alluminium vessel with 4 people on board lost a propellor 2 nautical miles west of Mana Island. Coastguard Mana responded with CRV Trust Porirua Rescue to head out and tow them back to Mana Marina. They were stood down just as they were crossing the bar because another vessel in the area had responded and taken them under tow.
