      • Seeds to Feeds, Taco Addict, the Mt Vic Hub, and Neighbours Aotearoa bring you MT VICTORIA’s annual Harvest Festival Dinner This is Mt Vic's 4th year of Seeds to Feeds and we are ready to sit down and enjoy some delicious local kai you! We will be harvesting a bountiful crop from the community gardens and we are very lucky to have our wonderful chef Amber Sturtz of Taco Addicts cooking up a delicious dinner for us all to enjoy. For those who have joined us in the past, you know how special and wonderful these community meals are! This is all about delicious local food, grown, prepared and eaten locally.     • Kelburn Community Garden, First Birthday & Harvest Celebration
      • Join us in celebrating our first year of being a community garden! As part of the Seeds to Feeds March Harvest Festival we invite you to join us for a midday picnic at the Kelburn Community Garden. Though we will be providing some delicious items for the kai table, we invite you to bring a plate to share, think local, think celebration kai or best of all, something homegrown! We are also thrilled to have students from the New Zealand School of Music come and play for us. It has been a year of hard mahi to get the garden to where it is, not to mention the hours of mahi that went into the planning, application forms and gathering resources prior too. We are so excited to be able to celebrate this milestone with you all. Please register so we know how many guests we can expect, any koha you give will go towards further resources for the garden RSVP

    • A Taste of Newtown: a whānau picnic
      • Come and connect with our community at our nourishing event showcasing locally sourced, grown, and prepared food. This is Newtown’s FIFTH year participating in Seeds to Feeds and every year we have evolved into something new. This year we are so excited to be sharing a menu that represents so many cultures present in our Newtown Community. We’ll be hosting an early evening whānau-focused “picnic” at Newtown School. Come and share in a gorgeous menu of locally made dumplings, fresh dips, breads and salads. We are excited to be supported this year by Wellington TimeBank, Berhampore Island Bay Orchard, Commonsense Organics, Contemporanae, Goods Cafe (Thorndon). It’s BYO plate, cutlery, and cups - though we will have some on hand for those who are unable to bring their own. We can't wait to share this magic afternoon with you, it's fun for the whole whānau!     • Te Aro Eats - Uniting Kai Communities at CubaDupa
      • After overwhelmingly positive feedback and a heck of a good time, in 2023, Te Aro Eats: Uniting Kai Communities is back for its second year at CubaDupa! Te Aro Eats is a collaborative and interactive dining experience where you are invited to connect with fellow diners, volunteer in the meal mahi, and take time to enjoy the delicious kai that has been created to show what is possible when we mahi together. Brought to life by the volunteers and staff at Seeds to Feeds, Everybody Eats, The Free Store, Wellington Timebank, Kaibosh Food Rescue, and with the support of Kaicycle, BGI (Wellington Boys and Girls Institute), Neighbours Aotearoa, Commonsense Organics and Wellington City Council. Saturday: 12 pm - 2 pm | 4 pm - 6 pm Sunday: 12 pm - 2 pm Each session open to all This meal is designed to showcase how our community-focused organisations operate and welcome volunteers. This will be inclusive (easily catering to vegetarians, vegans, gluten intolerances, and allergies), and created to share the story of our kai and our people. Admission is by koha, either monetary or with time or resources towards the mahi. While dining you will be encouraged to meet the guests dining with you, to connect and share stories. We will have activities that create moments of fun, excitement and conversation. We can not wait to welcome you into this special space and share some delicious community kai with you.

    • Kono Kuisine
      • More than a hangi feast, it's a fusion of tradition, taste, and togetherness. Delight your taste buds with succulent meats and delectable local-grown veggies; every morsel a celebration of culture. Join us on March 23, 2024, for a Kono Kuisine Karnival. A dedicated event for supporting local groups. It will feature a delectable hangi feast at its heart. Savour authentic Māori flavours with infused new dishes, symbolising our rich cultural heritage. Come together for a day of great food, culture, and community spirit, all for a wonderful cause! Day: March 23 Saturday Time: 11:00 am – 1:30 pm Location: 27 Chelsea Street, Miramar, Wellington 6022 "Hāre Whakamua" is a phrase in Māori, the language of the indigenous people of New Zealand, which translates to "Move Forward" in English. The concept of Hāere Whakamua is deeply rooted in fostering positive change and progress within the local community. This initiative focuses on nurturing the seeds of change, encouraging growth, and cultivating a sense of unity among community members. Please note the limited pre-booked hangi please make sure to book your spot. Kono Meat or Veg hangi and dessert, we recommended a Koha of at $20 BYO plate or bowl for us to fill is encouraged.     • HAEWAI LOCAL FOOD FESTIVAL, help us fund our food forest
      • HAEWAI LOCAL FOOD FESTIVAL – dinner to fund our food forest Sat 2 Mar 2024 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM Houghton Valley Community Hall, 80 Houghton Bay Road, Houghton Bay We can’t wait to share beautiful kai from our ngāhere and local mārakai with you! Come and join a local food celebration in our Community Hall and finish off Local Food Week in style. It will be an evening meal, but early enough if you would like to bring your children. The meal will include locally grown and foraged ingredients as well as some from not far away. We have another wonderful meal lined up, created by Leone and our Seeds-to-Feeds team, including: Foraged salad, bread, preserves, dips; Panzanella, vegetable tarts, roast vegetables; Fruit and vegetable-based cakes and desserts; Drinks from the wild South Coast. All food will be vegetarian with vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free options. Please sign up soon so that we have a good idea of the numbers leading up to the event. You also have the option of buying a meal for someone in the community. Bookings are koha-based, we recommend $20 for an adult and $10 for a child over ten to cover the meal. Children under ten are free and aren't included in the ticketing numbers as they probably won't sit down for very long! Any extra you give will cover the meal for someone else. Whichever way we would love to have you join us, if you would like to donate some time, or help out with the event rather than give monetary koha, please let us know. Be sure, you will get a fabulous meal and can spend an evening with friendly people! Funds raised will go towards a local food forest (with some of it for our fantastic Seeds-to-Feeds organisers), and will be held in trust by the Houghton Valley Progressive Association.     • HARVEST CELEBRATION FESTIVAL 2024
      • Our Harvest Celebration Festival is on again this March! A very special part of the Seeds to Feeds Events Calendar, this is a time for coming together in our communities, sharing delicious local kai, letting our hair out and having a bit of fun. With events happening all over the rohe (region), there is surely something for everyone and we welcome you to join us at each and every one. This festival couldn’t happen without the support of our event partners, Commonsense Organics and of course Wellington City Council.     • ĀHUAREKA O TE IHU O HINERAUMATI | Celebrating the summer solstice
      • Nau mai haere mai ki tētahi Āhuareka o te Ihu o Hineraumati We invite you to a Summer Solstice Celebration Join us for a day of community, kai, activities, farm tours, music and much more at Kaicycle Urban Farm, Saturday the 16th of December from 10 am to 2 pm. We will start the day with a crop swap at 10am hosted by the amazing Crop Swap Te Whanganui-a-Tara and Wellington Timebank crew. Crop Swap brings together a community of backyard gardeners, home bakers and food foragers for swapping and sharing high-quality local food. Feel free to bring anything you have extra or abundance of, and take home from what others bring to the table. At 12pm everyone is invited to participate in a solstice ritual. This is a time to make wishes for the next year, acknowledge the changing of the seasons and share our gratitude to Papatūānuku. Then we come together at 12.30pm for a large shared potluck kai. We invite those who wish to contribute by bringing a plate of food that represents celebration, it could be a traditional dish shared at gatherings, a recipe that has been passed down through your family, or simply your favourite kai to share with others. Seeds to Feeds will be providing some substantial items for the table so something small and easily shared is perfect. After kai, at 1.30pm there will be farm tours of the Kaicycle Urban farm. Other activities will take place throughout the day including, preparing seed packets to be shared around for Neighbours Aotearoa, live music and with time to connect with others. The whole whānau is invited and you are welcome to spend part of, or the whole day with us. This event is brought to you by a collection of organisations that work hard throughout our rohe to celebrate, share, grow and champion our local kai, and our communities.     • Garden Working-bee & Seedling Swap: St Barnabas Khandallah
      • It's time to plant the old sand pit into a pumpkin patch! Plus we'll have more seedlings on hand if you want to grab some for your own garden. Parking on Box Hill and surrounding streets, then follow the path down the left of the hall being the church, look for the Seeds to Feeds painted sign. We would love anyone who would like to join us to come along, no previous garden knowledge is necessary, just a willingness to get involved. We can't wait to see you in this special garden space.

    • Tarikaka Orchard working bee
      • The orchard requires weeding, please come along to help pull weeds and get the garden tidy for the end of the year. No experience necessary, please bring gloves and tools if you have them, will have some spare tools. Even if you can come for a short time that would be great! Look forward to seeing you there!

As the newest community garden in Wellington, we need your help to get off the ground! We'll provide the tools, materials, and instructions. No experience needed.

      • NEWTOWN WHANAU, this one is for you. If you've thought about getting more hands on with the Seeds to Feeds happenings in Newtown now is your chance. Perhaps you want to grow some kai to share, or you can host people in your garden, maybe you want to cook for you community, or learn some new recipes, you might be a beginner gardener looking for others to learn with, perhaps you're looking to connect with other members of your community - for what ever reason we welcome everyone who would like to connect and share in the mahi to create awesome local events that celebrate kai and community. We'll be meeting at the community room at Newtown Park Apartments and you are invited to bring a potluck dish to share, though not essential. We are looking forward to seeing you then. Arohanui

      • OPEN DAY AND SEED AND SEEDLING SWAP We are excited to celebrate this wonder garden space with a seed and seedling swap and open day.     • DINNER, AT ENJOY CONTEMPORARY ART SPACE
      • Dinner is a series of dinner events involving the gathering of people to share food and share in conversation around sociality and collectivity. Nourish your senses over a warm cup of vegetable soup prepared by Seeds to Feeds, open late this Thursday 5 October from 6 pm. This soup session launches a new series of collaborations between Enjoy Contemporary Art Space, Seeds to Feeds and other local community-focused projects developing the Left Bank arcade garden beds surrounding the gallery into edible gardens by and for local communities. This project is accompanied by a series of upcoming workshops around sustainable gardening and foraging within an urban environment.     • Preserves for the People
      • Join us for our next Preserves for the People session! Thursday October 12 at the Rintoul Street Villas in Berhampore, 11am till 2pm. We share recipes, make delicious preserves and kai to share with friends and family. Thanks to Kaibosh for their awesome Kitchen Kai donations! It’s always a fun time getting together and there’s lots of laughs and good conversations. Bring a friend and we’ll see you there!

    • Mt Vic Community Dinner
      • Mt Vic Hub, Seeds to Feeds and Innermost Garden are bringing you a community dinner on Thursday 16th of November as part of our Seeds to Feeds Spring/Summer program. Held at the wonderful Innermost Gardens. Menu details will follow but it is guaranteed to be amazing, this event is BYO beverage of choice. Alongside a delicious dinner, we will be launching our Short Story Competition with a sharing of a collaborative story that grew from the community. Hopefully, this will inspire you to get writing and enter with something of your own. Dinner will be served at approximately 6.30 pm. Dinner cost is by donation. All money raised will go back into creating vibrant events for our community. *Numbers are limited RSVP ESSENTIAL

    • Come Eat with Us : Launching our spring summer events!
      • It’s time to prepare for the spring and summer ahead, join us for a meal of celebration and of planning. We’ll share a delicious celebration meal, made with fresh, locally sourced produce, showcasing dishes that we hope will inspire menus for future harvest Celebrations. We’ll gather together at 6 pm, starting with mingling, connecting and nibbles. At 6.30 pm, we’ll spend some time looking at what events you have been dreaming up, how our coordination team will support you in creating these events and what some of the resources are needed. Dinner will be served at 7.15 pm After dinner, we will see if we can map out a calendar of events, with the hope of having a beginning idea of what your local Harvest Festival event might be in March. We will finish with cake (our favourite) and some more time to mingle and connect. If you are still not sure what Seeds to Feeds is all about, come join us. It's a great way to save money on buying new seedlings, an opportunity to learn from others, and can lead to new varietals in your māra. Why not raise some extra seedlings? knowing you have a space to come to, to swap them, and maybe even gift them to a community garden? Join in with a creative writing activity for the whole family. Grab a writing prompt and scribble something to plant the storytelling seed. As your idea grows you might want to enter our upcoming short story competition!     • Compost Workshop at Enjoy Contemporary Art Space
      • Join us at this FREE workshop to learn how to take climate action with your food scraps, make great compost, and keep the rodents away! A strong focus will be on doing this in a small space like an apartment or office. Composting done responsibly creates a great garden resource while reducing household waste, carbon emissions, and protecting native species. This workshop will answer your composting questions, including what composting set-up would be best for you, and how to make sure you’re not attracting rats. Suitable for beginner and experienced composters alike. If you’re a Wellington City Council resident, we will give you a rat-proof compost kit free of charge (thanks WCC for hooking us up). Register

We don’t currently have any events coming up, but we are hard at work creating some exciting and magical things for everyone to get involved with once the weather starts to warm. Volunteer to share in the meal mahi and take time to enjoy the delicious kai that has been created to show what is possible when we mahi together. Brought to life by the mahi of volunteers and staff at Seeds to Feeds, Everybody Eats, BGI (Wellington Boys and Girls Institute), The Free Store and with the support of Kaibosh, Kaicycle, Neighbours Aotearoa and Wellington City Council. Pre-book a space for one of our 6 sittings across the CubaDupa weekend. Only half of the spaces at each sitting are available for pre-booking, the rest will be available for walk-ups.       • Come and connect with our community at our nourishing event showcasing locally sourced, grown, and prepared food. This is Newtown’s fourth year participating in Seeds to Feeds and every year we have evolved into something new. With new growing spaces, new community connections, and a team of people passionate about local food - this year we invite you to enjoy this Whānau Picnic. The picnic - We are so thrilled to be hosting this at Newtown School. We’ll be offering delicious salads, dips, breads, desserts and more made from fresh local produce some of which has been grown and foraged locally. Crash Bandihoot - off the back of a stunning performance at WCC's Garden Magic series at Botanical Gardens we are thrilled upon THRILLED to be welcoming Crash Bandihoot to the picnic stage. With upbeat, brassy, jazzy beats that will get even the quietest dancing, we are feeling super excited to have them liven up our shindig!
