Aisle be Back: Hurricanes v Crusaders and NZ U20s
- Wellington Club Weekly
- By Kevin McCarthy Playing the Crusaders at home would always be seen as a bell weather game in any season. Strangely that’s where we’re at in the last round of Super Rugby. But also, there’s an argument that there isn’t much resting on this game. Of course, there’s always something resting on a game against...

More Mall for J’ville
- Eye of the Fish
- Thanks to the very friendly and amenable Wellington City Council External Media Advisor, Richard Maclean, we’ve been able to bring you some further info about the proposed new expansion to Johnsonville Mall. Now that’s what I call a helpful public service. So, to recap since our last message on Johnsonville, although the Council is still deciding whether it will publicly notify the scheme or not, the project is available for public view anyway, and as part of that we thought it would be helpful for you to see some of what is being proposed.

Wellington Whare Waka
- Architectural Centre Inc
- A new building awaits us on Wellington waterfront. Opening early on Waitangi Day this coming weekend, the new Whare Waka is being officially named and declared open. We’re going to devote some room to an an-depth discussion of the building in our next Arch Centre newsletter, due out soon, where we will have a full architectural review, but in the mean time it is kind of hard to ignore - and so this post just touches on the context of its surrounding landscape. Which is, at present, all we can really see.

Boot Camp For Nash

- Zephyr Rovers Manager Steve Hall admitted this afternoon he was putting George Nash (pictured) through football boot camp to sharpen his fitness. "George is looking a bit sluggish so I've got him doing extra training with North Wellington and today I've got him playing an outdoor match as well" said Hall "he'll find it a bit strange with no walls and a pitch that is five times as big but I'm sure he'll sweat it out".

Bring forward improvement of Cheyne Walk Play Area.
- Wellington City Council
- I would like the council to do the work on Cheyne Walk Play Area a lot earlier than planned so that families in our area have a safe and interesting place to meet and play. The equipment is very old and there is not much for children to play on. The other playgrounds in Newlands are too far away for children to walk to and people shouldn't have to drive to get to a good playground.

Lets Get Wellington Leaking

- We’ve been waiting for years for this and although it is not yet official, at long last we are seeing some progress. This was a scoop leaked by the Dom Post – and I’m keen to know more, so I’m posting it up here. While I’m sure that LGWM have gone through millions of alternatives, and fully evaluated tham and argued endlessly over them, for the last several years, this is the first time we’ve seen anything concrete.

A City for People
- Decades of inaction have meant house prices are out of control, while old rental properties rot out from underneath us. A whole generation of people are at risk of being forced out from the central city into new suburbs sprawling north, spending hours every day in traffic jams. We believe the Spatial Plan will allow Wellington to plan for the future so that new generations of Wellingtonians can share the city we love, and have a chance to live in a home that is affordable, accessible, healthy and warm.
