- Thursday 20 August 2009: More than 70 Streamers donated blood this morning when the NZ Blood Donor Service visited. Being in the age group (17-30) that most uses the blood collected, it was great to see so many boys donating. In fact, there were too many volunteers to be catered for in the time allowed.

Losing our heritage: a 104-year-old building, abandoned and dilapidated
- Wellington Scoop
- It had the financial support of Prime Minister Sir Joseph Ward and in its glory days its history included being used as a church hall and a music studio. The scruffy, dilapidated building at 30 Arthur Street used to be the Boys’ Institute – built in 1906 by the same architect who designed the Wellington and Christchurch railway stations.

Wellington Cycling Framework: progress or procrastination?
- Cycling in Wellington
- On 21 April, a rally of over 350 people who cycle demanded that WCC “get on with it” and start building cycling infrastructure. On 30 April, Council will debate the Wellington Cycling Framework, the “master plan” for developing cycling in Wellington. Is this the start of the progress that the rally demanded, or is it another exercise in procrastination?

Merch, baby - MERCH!!!
- Slow Boat Records
- Well, lordy, lordy me - what have we here, then?! After running an (entirely unscientific) Insta poll, we here at Slow Boat have listened to the voice of the people, and have bowed to popular consensus, and had manufactured a limited quantity of marvellous looking Slow Boat hoodies, alongside the regular tee shirts, a new style of (very robust!) tote bags (shall we refer to them as Boat Totes? Yes, I think we shall!) and, for the first time ever - two (count 'em!) varieties of SB trucker caps!! These are available for purchase instore now (my advice - get in quick while we still have a good range of sizes and colours!) so you can be fashion forward, and the envy of your pals. Tees are now $39.50, caps $30, totes $25 and the deluxe hoodies are a still perfectly reasonable $75 - I mean, what price happiness? What price... fashion... Feel free to drop us a line or call (04 385 1330) if you'd like to secure yours, and we'll be seein' ya soon - will have some Record Store Day 2025 related news to share in the upcoming weeks... Wellington City Rural Fire Force
- The Wellington Regional Council formed the WCRFF in 1993. Originally the Force shared residence with the Wellington Free Ambulance at Newtown. The Force moved to its’ own station in Burma Road Johnsonville, in December 1999 and stayed there for 3 ½ years. As the crew numbers increased and the purchase of the tanker the Wellington City Council moved our location to Tawa Depot on the 12th July 2003. Our current station gives us the opportunity to increase our crew numbers to our desired benchmark of 30 as well as housing our entire fleet, which currently consists of 6 vehicles, 4 trailers and a Communication Caravan.
