- A fake 'iceberg' in Wellington's Oriental Bay the other day was made by special effects wizards Weta for a Climate change stunt. The object, which appears to be made of polystyrene or a similar material, is between the Carter Fountain and the Overseas Passenger Terminal.

- Lizzie a 22 footer built in Wellington in 1909 by Ted Bailey has been salvaged in Auckland by the harbour master. A 14 day derelict notice has been placed on the vessel and the Auckland Regional Council is engaged with trying to locate an owner.

- Originally built in 1873 by the Catholic diocese, St Patricks is a non-denominational, community owned church. Situated in the farming and lifestyle area of Makara, St Patricks is twenty minutes drive from the centre of Wellington. The Church is listed with the Historic Places Trust and is lovingly maintained by local volunteers.
