- Wellington Runners & Walkers (WRW)
- Welcome back Rob, hope you had a great break. We get Rob back only to lose Betty – it’s all go! Betty goes in for a hip operation this week so will be out of action for at least 4 weeks (it’s meant to be 6, but you can’t hold a good woman down for that long!). Good luck with the op Betty, and enjoy your rest while you can.

Room at the inn?
- Wellington SPCA
- We are desperately searching for volunteers who can offer a temporary home to some of our fabulous dogs. With Christmas just around the corner, we really need to find a place to stay for some of our pups. Dog fosterers play a very important role at Wellington SPCA by providing short-term accommodation to dogs in our care, when we just simply don’t have the space for them at our shelters.

BNU Womens 1st v University 12/04/2009

- Brooklyn (1); University (1) Brooklyn girls arrived at Wakefield Park on Easter Sunday with keenness and fervour. What more could make you happy, a beautiful blue sky day, a game of soccer and a holiday the next day. Once the girls were kitted up, warmed up, and knew our positions, we were given the “grand walk on the pitch” drill by Bronwyn. The young University girls looked less than impress

And you thought we were joking about the Octopus threat?
- The Wellingtonista
- Earlier this month we read about an octopus off the South Coast that mugged an innocent diver and took his valuable new camera. The news flashed around the world and everyone had a bit of a chuckle at the diver's expense. Not so fast, laughing boys (and girls). It turns out that this is but the latest episode in a long history of criminal behaviour by the city's cephalopod citizenry.

- It’s nice to see some solid local news reporting over at new Wellington website The Examiner. The Examiner says it aims to be “… a site where we look deeper and think harder about the city we live in and the issues that matter to us. It is also a forum for telling Wellingtonians’ stories, especially for people who would not otherwise have a voice.” Neat. Welcome, The Examiner.

Weekly Report for Sunday April 3
- Wellington Runners & Walkers (WRW)
- Hi Everyone Daylight Saving - this SundayYou can sleep in for an extra hour. So we should see a goodly turnout at the Kilbirnie Main Meeting Room. Numbers have been a bit down lately, what with us being moved around from room to room. but we now have a clear run(??) for several months, and we always find that number increase dramatically as we get nearer our Wellington Marathon in June.

DCM Bulletin - Our Cupboards are Bare
- Downtown Community Ministry
- The Downtown Community Ministry (DCM) foodbank is almost empty. We’ve seen a 44% increase in the number of food parcels given out in the first quarter of this year, compared to the same quarter in 2010. “The situation is dire, we’re seeing a huge increase in the number of people we’re supporting even though our foodbank is only open 2 afternoons a week”, says Stephanie McIntye, director of DCM.

Boulevards
- Eye of the Fish
- After a couple of posts looking at the proposed concretisation of the car’s dominance over nature, with a 6 lane highway racing through Haitaitai and an overpass through / over / around the Basin Reserve, all courtesy of the NZTA, perhaps it is time to look at somebody else’s vision for the streets of Wellington. Why don’t we have a look at this image, number 3 in the series, on Boulevards.

Result: National Road Relays
- Olympic Harriers
- Today was a good day for the 4 teams representing the club at the 2012 National Road Relays held on a challenging course in Upper Moutere outside Nelson. The senior men's team competing in the B grade placed third as did the masters women. Great efforts and possibly the best result at a national relay for many years. Needless to say the celebratory meal was held in good spirits!!

A host of native shrubs and trees have been planted alongside our future mainline formation to the Kaitoke side of the pedestrian crossing. The plants have taken despite the arduous ground conditions and occasional accidental dose of weedspray - a vast improvement over the gorse and blackberry the previously occupied the area.

A City for People
- Decades of inaction have meant house prices are out of control, while old rental properties rot out from underneath us. A whole generation of people are at risk of being forced out from the central city into new suburbs sprawling north, spending hours every day in traffic jams. We believe the Spatial Plan will allow Wellington to plan for the future so that new generations of Wellingtonians can share the city we love, and have a chance to live in a home that is affordable, accessible, healthy and warm.

The life and times of James Walter Chapman-Taylor
- ‘The life and times of James Walter Chapman-Taylor’ enables us to enter into the life and times of a man, a family, a society, and ways of thinking and acting different to, yet not so distant from, our own. We enter the world of an architect, who is also an artist; builder, craftsman; a theosophist, an astrologer, a photographer, a furniture maker.

The once divided shops are now a 75 seat eatery just a short hop from the CBD, a stone’s throw from Lyall Bay beach and a 5 minute drive from the airport.
