Tapu Te Ranga Marae
From 1974, the marae served as a community centre to young people in Wellington City. It developed into a Wellington icon as a Marae. In 2019 the marae was tragically destroyed by a fire. The marae whānau are now working on a plan to rebuild the marae and it’s nohokāinga.

- Nau mai ngā hua o Hine Raumati! We had a mīharo time hosting our hāpori for a day of whānau fun and kēmu Māori! We want to give a huge mihi to Tū Mātau Ora for their time, skill and sharing of their mātauranga with us! Tau kē! Also a mihi to Nuku Ora - an active Wellington region and New World, Island Bay for the tautoko! Kei runga noa atu koutou e hoa mā!

Matariki 2024 — Tapu-te-Ranga Marae
- Tapu Te Ranga Marae
- During the Matariki festivities, people gather together to celebrate the passing of the year and the hope of a new season. This whakataukī speaks to us about the gathering of people during Matariki. Tapu Te Ranga celebrated the rising of Matariki a little differently this year, it was a small and intimate event that started with a dawn service on the morning of the 28th of June. There was a great turnout from the hapū, the Marae community as well as our neighbors.
