      • Operation Details Date/Time:  Tue, 08/02/2011 - 21:00 - Wed, 09/02/2011 - 12:30 Operation Type:  SAROP Cat 1 People Assisted:  0 Police received a report of a boat seen drifting north from the Plimmerton area around Te Rewarewa Point (known locally as Tea Gardens) towards Pukerua Bay in heavy seas. The witness spotted the vessel from the top of the hill at Whiteraia Park and believed that it was drifting, possibly broken down. Coastguard Mana crew members were already in the area for their regular training night and responded in the rescue vessel Trust Porirua Rescue to search for the boat.       • Operation Details Date/Time:  Tue, 03/09/2013 - 17:55 - 20:30 Operation Type:  SAROP Cat 1 People Assisted:  3 Total Volunteer Hours:  12 A small vessel broke down near Mana Island with 3 people on board.The men had been diving about 1km off Mana Island, north of Porirua, and had been due back at 6pm. At 5pm they realised they had a fuel problem and were unable to start the motor so called emergency services who called out Coastguard Mana. They were able to alert rescuers to their location by text message and flashed a torch to Trust Porirua Rescue when near to show their location. The vessel and it's occupants were safely towed back to land by Coastguard Mana at 8:15pm.       • Operation Details Date/Time:  Sun, 07/11/2021 - 18:30 - 21:30 Operation Type:  CG Operation (good samaritan) People Assisted:  6 Total Volunteer Hours:  12 Whilst searching for a vessel that had broken down with 4 pob and requested a tow home as a non-member we discovered another one that had broken down on "the  bridge" near Mana Island. We marked their location and told them we would be back for them once we had located the first vessel.  We found the first vessel under tow by someone else coming back into the channel.       • Operation Details Date/Time:  Wed, 09/11/2022 - 20:00 - 23:00 Operation Type:  SAROP Cat 1 People Assisted:  0 Total Volunteer Hours:  21 A member of the public walking along the shore between Titahi Bay and Green Point observed a vessel at anchor a few meters off the shore with nobody on board. A small black fluffy dog was observed swimming from the boat to shore and running around the coastline in a semi frantic state.  The informant said the vessel was observed empty for 20 minutes and felt like something was wrong. Te Awarua Rescue responded with a crew to search for the vessel. We searched the entire shoreline from Titahi Bay to a few hundred metres past Open Bay. Nothing was found. This enables them to perform to their full potential in exams. We have over sixty senior students who receive SAC. The school receives no funding to employ reader writers.  NZQA pays for reader/writers for externals only. At exam times it is very difficult to cater for the high numbers and we are looking for volunteers to help us out. Morning exams begin at 9am and the afternoon session starts at 1.20 pm. They can vary between 1.5 – 3 hours.   You do not need to know the subject but have equivalent to High School Literacy and have legible writing.  You will not be placed with a student you know. Please email Tash.Stuart@whs.school.nz to register your interest. Staff Success  Michaela Manley, science, music and Year 10 roopu teacher, is a finalist in the Aotearoa Category of World of Wearable Arts with a dress made of inner tubes that have been recycled.  We are all looking forward to seeing her creation on display.       • The Thistle Inn was built in 1840. she is the oldest hotel in NZ still trading from the original site. In July 1866 she was burnt to the ground but by December the same year she was back operating. You will see the original beer cellar through the glass floor. She is a Category 1 historic place building and was completely restored in 2004 (as close as possible to how she was in 1866).

      • Land Rovers are an indoor football team playing (in a loose association with Land Information NZ)in Division 7 of Wellington lunch time soccer. Our aim is to win the competition, resolve world peace by 5 o'clock and keep our sponsors very happy indeed.

      • Karori Amateur Swimming Club was formed in 1964. It became the Karori Pirates Swimming Club Incorporated on 2 May 2007. As of the 23rd of September 2016 we have become the Pirates Swim Team.

      • VDC is the largest Dragon Boat Club in the Wellington region and is open to new paddlers from all experience levels Established in 2009 we are an energetic group of dragon boaters. Our club is made up of people from all over and from all age groups, in 2021 we had 5 teams paddling.

    • Hutt Valley Mountain Bike Club
      • Established in 1991, the club covers the greater Wellington area, with a preference for cross country riding. The club provides a range of organised riding options including Sunday rides and Jungle rides, but probably the most popular is the Wednesday night rides. These can have anywhere from 5 to 20 or more depending on the ride.

      • Elements is an award winning eatery located in a beautiful old building (circa 1925), that once housed the library, post office, chemist and butcher. The once divided shops are now a 75 seat eatery just a short hop from the CBD, a stone’s throw from Lyall Bay beach and a 5 minute drive from the airport.
