- GO Wellington and the Tramways and M&C unions are returning to the negotiating table on Friday, 26 September. “The notice of strike action has been withdrawn, and as a result it is no longer necessary to suspend our services,” says Bruce Kenyon, GM GO Wellington. ”We now have the certainty we need to operate our services safely and reliably for our customers.”

School bus services affected by industrial action - Wednesday, 24 September

- Industrial action by the Tramways Union on Wednesday, 24 September will affect school bus services to the following schools. The services are affected by industrial action affecting all GO Wellington bus services scheduled to depart between 7.30am and 8.30am from the Karori Terminus and the Wellington Railway Station.

Bus services will be disrupted Wednesday, 24 September 7.30am-8.30am

- There will be no GO Wellington bus services leaving from the Wellington Rail Station or from Karori Terminus between the hours of 7.30am and 8.30am on Wednesday, 24 September. This includes 23 school buses. The Tramways Union has advised GO Wellington that it intends to take strike action during this peak commuter period, and that this will continue until further notice.

- Wellington has long had an ambivalent attitude to alternative means of transport unloved in other cities - we still have trolley buses (long absent from Auckland or Christchurch), we have a cable car (NZ’s and one of the world’s few commuter vertical transporters), and the cops here seem to turn a blind eye to youths driving scooters, sidewinders or skateboards.

Branch Meeting Thursday 25 September: National Train Control VHF Radio Communications

- The ONTRACK National Train Control Centre at the Wellington Railway Station communicates with the locomotive drivers out on the track using a VHF radio network. This month we are fortunate to have John Skilton, Manager Signals and Telecommunications Engineering at ONTRACK, and Stu Lusty from Kordia, coming to speak to us about the upgrade of this train control VHF radio system and the new technologies that are being employed. Members and guests are welcome to come along to what should be an interesting and informative evening.

Disruption to GO Wellington bus services - 22 September 2008

- On Monday, 22 September, the Wellington Tramways Union will conduct a stop work meeting between the hours of 10.30am and 2pm to ratify a new Collective Employment Agreement. As a result, all GO Wellington services will be unavailable on Monday, 22 September between the hours of 10am and 2pm.
