Farewell to this land’s cheerless marshes
- Karori Slapperz AFC
- In true Wellington Council style, the games that they should axe go ahead and visa versa, so it was with no surprise that following torrential rain on Friday night and Saturday morning we’d be playing. Now I ain’t grumbling about it, cos we ain’t played since 26th June and anymore cancellations means that we have to play ‘double headers’ (Saturdays and Sundays). So I was as happy as an octopus with sixteen legs and given the state of the water on the park, maybe being a cephalopod would have faired well.

Trust display at Upper Hutt Summer Carnival
- Rimutaka Incline Railway
- A brilliantly fine day at Trentham Memorial Park for the 2015 Upper Hutt Summer Carnival - a great venue for the Trust to promote its activities and operating days. Prominent in the display was the cab and bunker side of steam loco Wb 299, which proved popular with the public. As earlier published in Wb 299 rebuild under way the cab is an interactive exhibit, folk are free to try out the driver's seat and glance out the cab window - and get a sense of the scale and heritage of the loco.

- Wellington Airport’s apron taxiway is to undergo major reconstruction for the first time since the airport was originally opened in 1959. This will have major benefits for operational safety, resilience, airfield lighting and stormwater. The apron taxiway, the paved area between the runway and airport terminal, has reached the end of its design life and must be resurfaced to ensure the ongoing safety and efficiency of aircraft operations.

On-Bus Announcements test run on 20 buses in Wellington
- Metlink
- Primarily, the on-bus announcement system makes public transport easier and safer for riders with disabilities and impairments. It also benefits people who are unfamiliar with public transport, anyone catching a route they don’t normally use, and visitors to the region. The system will announce all stops during both off-peak and peak commuter times, because riders that benefit from this system travel during all times of the day.

Young and Hungry
- Young & Hungry started life in 1994 at Bats theatre as a series of one act plays designed to give young people, aged between 15-25 years, the opportunity to partake in a professional theatre environment under the direction of professional theatre practitioners. Since then it has significantly grown and is now run by the Young and Hungry Arts Trust.
