Manners Mall submission
- Architectural Centre Inc
- The Architectural Centre has made the following submission : Manners Mall Carpark on the WCC’s proposal’s for the redevelopment of Manner’s Mall. As you may note from the written and drawn information, we were very much less than impressed. We are calling for the WCC to scrap the current scheme owing to its predominate use of car parking, and to re-design the spaces for the use of people, not cars. Wellington deserves better than this from our Council, especially at such an important, central city site.

Bullshit, says the mayor to her councilors
- Wellington Scoop
- It didn’t seem to be a good day for Wellington Mayor Prendergast at Wednesday’s meeting of her council’s strategy and policy committee. After an amendment to the city-wide alcohol ban was proposed by Cr Wain – to limit its extension to two suburbs where there was public support for it – the mayor instructed the councilors that, by living in the city voted 12th in the world in quality of life, they should “have the guts” to vote for the city-wide ban which she favoured.

A City for People
- Decades of inaction have meant house prices are out of control, while old rental properties rot out from underneath us. A whole generation of people are at risk of being forced out from the central city into new suburbs sprawling north, spending hours every day in traffic jams. We believe the Spatial Plan will allow Wellington to plan for the future so that new generations of Wellingtonians can share the city we love, and have a chance to live in a home that is affordable, accessible, healthy and warm.

We’ve been working out, as a community organization, what our part is in sparking the local community economic systems that truly value what makes people’s lives better.
