Everyone wants a piece of the pie
- The Wellingtonista
- So today the Dom Post has a story about how Verboom Badges in Left Bank is in trouble with MacDonalds for using its Georgie Pie brand. This story perplexes me for many reasons, but mostly because I'm wondering why the hell anyone would want to bring back Georgie Pie in the first place. Aren't there enough good pies in Wellington for you lot already?

Wellington's rates out of control
- Bryan Pepperell - Back To The Future
- Recently I asked for the compounding rate increase for residential property over the last five years from the city council´s CFO. My records from 1 July 2003 to 30 June to 2004 show my rates at $1275.69. They are now $2204.52. That’s close enough to 73 percent and I pay for my own rubbish. The figure I was given by the CFO was 45 percent.

Candidate updates
- WCC Watch
- I’ve updated our candidates page following a few emails we’ve received… Updated website details for a few candidates. Removed Andy Foster from the mayoralty race, I’ve been told he is only standing for his council seat, and his website seems to suggest this. Removed Rob Goulden from the mayoralty race, I’ve been told he is only standing for his council seat. I don’t dare question him.

Water is being connected to the school site and two pipes have been laid under the road - one for tap water and one for fire purposes. This will be the last of these road based activities because the school site now has phone/broadband, electricity and water. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

A City for People
- Decades of inaction have meant house prices are out of control, while old rental properties rot out from underneath us. A whole generation of people are at risk of being forced out from the central city into new suburbs sprawling north, spending hours every day in traffic jams. We believe the Spatial Plan will allow Wellington to plan for the future so that new generations of Wellingtonians can share the city we love, and have a chance to live in a home that is affordable, accessible, healthy and warm.
