    • Passchendaele: The Belgians Have Not Forgotten
      • This exhibition focuses on how the memories of New Zealand still live on in Flanders today, 90 years after the devastating conflict that cost so many young kiwi lives. These memories are brought to life through images, movies and artefacts. New Zealand lost more men during the 100 days of fighting than any other commonwealth country - 845 on one day alone during the First Battle of Passchendaele, 12 October, 1917. The people of Flanders and, more widely, the people of Belgium have never forgotten this sacrifice, which is commemorated in this very special exhibition. Passchendaele: The Belgians Have Not Forgotten will tour New Zealand between March and November 2009.     • Three men in a dinghy with engine failure
      • Operation Details Date/Time:  Wed, 01/05/2013 - 15:30 - 17:00 Operation Type:  SAROP Cat 1 People Assisted:  3 Total Volunteer Hours:  10 CRV Trust Porirua Rescue responded with six crew to a Police callout.An aluminium dinghy with three men on board had engine failure east of Mana Island.On reaching the scene the vessel Millicent had the dinghy under tow. The tow was transferred to Porirua Rescue and two men were also transferred from the dinghy to increase free board on the dinghy. The dinghy was towed to the Paremata Bridge launch ramp. The two men on Porirua Rescue were dropped off at the Mana Marina Coastguard berth.     • Slipped anchor causes collision in Porirua Harbour
      • Operation Details Date/Time:  Tue, 05/02/2013 - 09:00 - 10:00 Operation Type:  CG Operation (good samaritan) People Assisted:  2 Total Volunteer Hours:  5 The Harbour Master requested the assistance of Coastguard Mana to help resolve a situation caused by severe southerly winds overnight.  A catamaran in Porirua Harbour had slipped its anchor and drifted into a trimaran moored nearby.  Both yatchs were caught together and the strong southerlies had caused the trimaran to puncture the cat above the water line. The owners were on board and declined assistance.     • Removal of bird scarer on moored vessel
      • Operation Details Date/Time:  Wed, 19/06/2019 - 20:00 - 22:00 Operation Type:  Other People Assisted:  2 Total Volunteer Hours:  10 Received a call from the Wellington Harbour Master asking if we could assist them to remove/disable a bird scarer on a moored boat in Onepoto Harbour. The electronic scarer was making a lot of noise on a still night and the local residents asked noise control to get it turned off.  We took the Harbour Master and a Noise Control officer out to the vessel to disable it, with the owner's permission.
