The idea involves a special 4 coach English Electric service that will operate on Saturday 28th November which will call at every station in the electrified network to collect donations of non perishable food.

      • Today was a good day for the 4 teams representing the club at the 2012 National Road Relays held on a challenging course in Upper Moutere outside Nelson. The senior men's team competing in the B grade placed third as did the masters women. Great efforts and possibly the best result at a national relay for many years. Needless to say the celebratory meal was held in good spirits!!

      • An injury-plagued Slapperz journeyed to Petone Memorial 4 to take on the Armani's. With Steve-O and Barts on the sideline nursing aches and pains, we were all hoping for an injury free match. No luck there, I'm afraid, with Gazz limping off after just 1 minute with a nasty looking recurrence of his injury. Fortunately, Striker Barts gallantly came to the rescue and played the remaining 89 minutes up front.

Altrusa Ohariu were so kind to donate 20 handmade toiletry bags, each full of donated items for the residents of our whare. These bags were made by Karen, an Altrusa member, and the donated toiletry items were packed at the May Altrusa meeting. Natalie the Club President delivered the bags and we were able to give her a wee tour of our whare and learn abit more about her mahi.

    • Record Numbers Strip Foodbank Bare
      • Food supplies at Downtown Community Ministry’s Foodbank are struggling to cope with the record number of people seeking assistance. Over 40 people received food parcels on Monday in one of the busiest afternoons the Foodbank has known. At 1:30pm when the Foodbank opened 20 people were waiting to be interviewed for food assistance. “Despite generous support for the Foodbank this year, our shelves are once again empty with demand totally exceeding supply,” says DCM Director Stephanie McIntyre. More food is desperately needed to meet the demand.

The big push around Wellington at the moment is of course the Housing Upgrade Project. A number of well-respected practices around town have got a project or two in there - with a total of about 20 WCC housing projects to upgrade, we’re guessing there is some work in there to last for a few years

      • November 2022 will be the final month of paper Rail Monthly passes. The 30-day Rail pass replaces these passes and is available to load onto your Snapper card from 7 November, for use on the Kāpiti Line from 12 November and the rest of the network from 27 November. The pass is activated on its first use and includes your bus trip to or from your local station when travelling to Wellington Station from zones 4-14.

      • Round 1 is done and dusted for the W League team, and we’ve gone through unbeaten, and very pleased to be 5 points clear from our closest rivals Wellington Utd & Palmy North Marist. The last two games of the round saw us face a strengthened Wairarapa at home. We knew this wouldn’t be the same team that allowed us to beat them 20-0 in the Kelly Cup, and we were right. Wairarapa came out to compete, and their shape, compactness and tireless efforts meant we were finding them hard to break down.

      • After an entertaining opening game at Hutt Park it was off to Miramar to take on Miramar Rangers. With the great surface of Davey F having some work done, the game was relocated to a pitch right at the other end of the scale, Miramar Park. Both teams were playing a fairly cautious game in the first 20 minutes as they looked to come to grips with the difficult surface and it became clear that the team who made least defensive mistakes would probably pick up the points today.

The bunnies Sugar and Sadie had been unsuccessful with their first aid kit in previous installations, but Duke the zombie Dachshound has transformed Morris into a zombie bear. They keep each other company, but Morris is still having trouble training Duke to be abit more civilized.
