Vessel stuck fast with tide incoming. Vessel still stuck at high tide and would not budge. Mana Rescue 1 was able to secure a line to the vessel and eventually pull her off the sandbar. She was towed to deeper water then made her way to Mana under her own steam. - Operation Details Date/Time: Wed, 20/05/2020 - 13:15 - 15:30 Operation Type: SAROP Cat 1 People Assisted: 2 Total Volunteer Hours: 9 A vessel broke down up towards Pukerua Bay. It was towed back towards Mana but then dropped out in the bay off Plimmerton and told to get someone else to take them in, or they'd pick them up again on the way back from fishing. The vessel appeared to be taking on water so the skipper placed a Mayday call, which Maritime Radio responded to. Police then tasked us to respond to tow them in. The Thistle Inn
- The Thistle Inn was built in 1840. she is the oldest hotel in NZ still trading from the original site. In July 1866 she was burnt to the ground but by December the same year she was back operating. You will see the original beer cellar through the glass floor. She is a Category 1 historic place building and was completely restored in 2004 (as close as possible to how she was in 1866).
