      • Operation Details Date/Time:  Sun, 31/05/2020 - 15:00 - 17:00 Operation Type:  SAROP Cat 1 People Assisted:  3 Total Volunteer Hours:  2 A vessel had been calling for a tow from South of Rock Point, Maritime radio picked up the request and rebroadcast but no other vessels offered to assist and Police called Coastguard. As our crew were arriving at the base another vessel coming in from the North heard the radio call and offered to assist. Police requested that Coastguard confirm that all was ok with the tow so we went out and checked.       • Operation Details Date/Time:  Sat, 26/12/2020 - 09:10 - 16:00 Operation Type:  SAROP Cat 1 People Assisted:  2 Total Volunteer Hours:  75 A 15m yacht broke its rudder approximately 2NM west of Mana Island whilst crossing to the South Island. MR1 was tasked by Police to tow them home. By the time we got to them the wind had got up to 25-35kts and they had drifted 7NM west of Mana Island. We towed them back in challenging conditions and put them at anchor just outside the Mana bar, as they were unable to cross it at low tide.       • Operation Details Date/Time:  Thu, 21/01/2021 - 17:00 - 20:30 Operation Type:  CG Operation (good samaritan) People Assisted:  2 Total Volunteer Hours:  31 Amazing Grace (modified lifeboat)was used as a tow exercise for pre operational assessment training 1) crew briefed and were to develop an operations plan, this was reviewed by the crews of MR1/MR2. a final plan was approved by the 2 x masters. 2) Plan was completed, pre-event planning included taking mooring rings up to the poles, briefimg the owner, setting the rafting system up. 3) Olan was executed, not hazards developed that were not planned for, event completed with no errors.       • Operation Details Date/Time:  Sat, 22/10/2022 - 11:10 - 13:05 Operation Type:  CG Operation (good samaritan) People Assisted:  2 Total Volunteer Hours:  5 Ref: 10466 MRC 2 x POB on new jetski, had a mechanical/electrical failure. Ski had launched from Paramatta Bridge, moved to Titahi Bay and then had the failure. Ski was anchored but no local assist available. TAR engaged with master revalidation. Capability issue reviewed with the assessor and task undertaken. On scene advice given to try a restart but ski failed to operate. 1 POB from ski taken onto TAR and the ski with 1 POB assisted close to shore. It records the history of the development of mental health services in New Zealand from what can be considered their inception in 1844. The Museum, a Category 1 historic place, contains a collection of artefacts from the history of Porirua Hospital, including its time as a psychiatric facility.

    • The Thistle Inn
      • The Thistle Inn was built in 1840. she is the oldest hotel in NZ still trading from the original site. In July 1866 she was burnt to the ground but by December the same year she was back operating. You will see the original beer cellar through the glass floor. She is a Category 1 historic place building and was completely restored in 2004 (as close as possible to how she was in 1866).
