News for Sunday 3 May 2009
- Karori Anglican Churches
- Preparation is now underway for the St Philip’s deconsecration weekend. A service, to be conducted by Bishop Tom will be held on Sunday, 24 May at St Philip’s Church. Also on Saturday there will be an afternoon of “Music and Memories”. The service and Saturday event will hold many memories for both the present and past Parishioners who may be attending over the weekend. As St Philip’s has be closed for many months a clean up day is necessary to ensure that it will be ready for the deconsecration weekend. This will be held on Saturday, 9 May, from 9 am onwards.

Whither Cuba?
- Eye of the Fish
- Gosh – that was a surprise! Our venerated local broadsheet, el Domino Postale, appears to have gone and written an excellent, thoughtful article on what we need to do with Cuba St. Have they got a new reporter perhaps, one who is actually interested in matters more important than cute doggies or cats stuck up trees? There is hope, at least – keep an eye out on Nikki McDonald. The article raises some serious points, which I think that we have also raised before – what to do with a street whose charm lies in it’s eclectic collection of semi derelict buildings?

Weekly Report 28 November
- Wellington Runners & Walkers (WRW)
- What a great night we had at Café Istanbul! Plenty of food and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves – even if we all had to dodge the flying bubbly corks!!!! We had a couple of belly dancing sessions, and although it may not be everyone’s ‘cup of tea’, if you watched carefully you’d have to agree that there’s a lot of skill & control involved – Gordie certainly seemed entranced with the first session….AGMThis is coming up on the 12th December, below is the official notice:(If you wish to stand for any of the committee positions, see Betty on Sunday for the nomination forms.)

A City for People
- Decades of inaction have meant house prices are out of control, while old rental properties rot out from underneath us. A whole generation of people are at risk of being forced out from the central city into new suburbs sprawling north, spending hours every day in traffic jams. We believe the Spatial Plan will allow Wellington to plan for the future so that new generations of Wellingtonians can share the city we love, and have a chance to live in a home that is affordable, accessible, healthy and warm.
