Women's Firsts v Tawa (top-o-the-table-clash)
- Brooklyn Northern United AFC
- Aaaaa…Tawa. The steady sound of motor mowers and small children. The snobby reluctance to be associated in any way shape or form with their close neighbours Porirua. The constant purr of dehumidifiers working tirelessly in an effort to stop mould from coating every household surface. Isn’t it great just not to live there? What would be even greater would be if we were to beat them on Sunday and rob them of possibly the only thing they have to proud of – top spot in the division that contains our team.

Rethinking the airport barrier
- Wellington Scoop
- Despite being surrounded by high hills, Wellington is fortunate to have an international airport that is under 10km from its CBD, with flight approaches over Cook Strait to the south and just missing the Newland hills to the north. The drawback is the runway which forms a major physical barrier over 2km long between the city and the airport terminal and the growing population of over 20,000 residents who live east of the airport on Miramar Peninsula.

A moving experience
- Te Papa's blog
- With less than a month to go until our squid meets her adoring fans, there is still much to be done behind the scenes, not least of which is trying to figure out the best way of getting a 2.5 tonne display tank - squid included - from its storage facility across town, to its final resting place here at Te Papa. As the Exhibition Preparator assigned to the exhibition, it is my job to not only manag

HARD FOUGHT WIN GIVES UNITED FOUR IN A ROW
- Wellington United AFC
- The first half of the season, Wellington United couldn't get a win for trying, with six single goal defeats seeing them rooted to the bottom of the table despite having a positive goal difference. A common mantra from the players and fans was the results will come and thats what they have been doing with four wins in a row, the latest a 2-0 win over second place Wainuiomata at Newtown Park on Saturday in the Capital Premier division. It was a satisfying win for United, who had gone done 3-2 in the reverse fixture in Wainuiomata earlier in the season, despite leading 2-0 with 15 minutes to go. Wainui were on a roll having won seven in a row and beaten league leaders Upper Hutt City 2-0 the week before.

Friends of Maara Roa
- Maara Roa is a forest restoration project at Cannons Creek Valley near Porirua. Its purpose is to restore the Bush back to what it was before the people who ruined it came. The project started in 2000, after some gorse fires destroyed yet more sections of native bush. A small group of people met to see if something could be done to stop it. The Friends of Maara Roa grew from that.

The life and times of James Walter Chapman-Taylor
- ‘The life and times of James Walter Chapman-Taylor’ enables us to enter into the life and times of a man, a family, a society, and ways of thinking and acting different to, yet not so distant from, our own. We enter the world of an architect, who is also an artist; builder, craftsman; a theosophist, an astrologer, a photographer, a furniture maker.
