Class of 2009 - Year 13 Graduation
- St Patricks College, Silverstream
- Wednesday 11 November 2009: On a night to remember, Year 13 students attended their last Mass as part of their Graduation night. Citations were presented to all students in the school Chapel with parents and family looking on. A delightful dinner in the auditorium with parents and staff followed, before academic awards were presented. True to tradition, the night finished with the school haka.

Amstore Autumn Series underway
- Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club (Inc)
- It was a great start to the Amstore Autumn Series on a lovely day, there were plenty of boats on the water with 8 entries in the A division and 18 starters in the B division. At the start of the day there was a light 10 knot southerly in Evans Bay and a northerly breeze blowing across Ngauranga as well making for interesting conditions.

The pressure to spend more money, and the worry of a bad reputation
- Wellington Scoop
- The Wellington City Council’s waterfront company is keeping the pressure on councilors to pay for two expensive and controversial projects which haven’t yet been approved. By June next year, says Wellington Waterfront Ltd in its Statement of Intent which was given to councilors on Friday, plans for the temporary ice skating rink and the temporary sideless tent “will be significantly advanced, if not completed.”

BNU 1sts v Kapiti Coast United 2nd July 2011
- Brooklyn Northern United AFC
- The men's 1st team took on KCU on the bog that is Miramar Park. The conditions were far from ideal to play the 'beautiful game' and suited the long ball and chase game of the opposition. Despite the crap conditions we tried to play constructive football which was pleasing. George Maemba scored the first, and his first of the season, after a sustained spell of pressure.

Review: Miss Bronte
- The Wellingtonista
- As we walk into the theatre a woman sits on stage frantically writing in a tiny book. She wears a plain blue dress made out of different patterned fabrics. Her hair is parted in the middle and tightly pulled back. Every so often she pauses, looks into the distance, then scribbles some more. The furniture […] The post Review: Miss Bronte appeared first on The Wellingtonista.

Five years of not getting us moving
- Wellington Scoop
- There was another reminder last week that Let’s Get Wellington Moving is mis-named. Announcing that public feedback from 2000 people on changes to Wellington’s Golden Mile had overwhelmingly backed the “transform” option, it said: “The next step … is to identify a preferred option.” If only LGWM could move on from research and consultation to what we thought it was supposed to be doing – getting us moving.

Roxy Cinema
- Reborn as The Roxy in 2011, this iconic Miramar building started life as The Capitol Theatre - a one-screen picture house, purpose built in 1928 to screen silent films. In 1932 the cinema was converted to screen 'talkies', and continued to show films until 1964, when it closed its doors. It then became local shopping centre 'Capitol Court' until falling into disrepair and lying vacant for a number of years.
