Five years on the Peak
- Makara Peak Mountain Bike Park
- Five years ago {Makara} Peak was a a bit of a wreck. There was 8km of service road and a whole lot of gorse and barberry. The Council were thinking of letting mountainbikers move in and develop tracks, but this was a pretty radical idea at the time.<p> Since then, over 15 km of track have been built and about 14,000 seedlings planted. To celebrate, we'll be having a barbecue at the planting on Sunday. There'll even be some beer and cake (and some chocolate biscuits of course).

Coffee you Feel !
- Eye of the Fish
- Yes, that’s right - Havana Coffee, home to some of the best roasted beans and some of the choicest cuts of real estate too. The guys at Havana seem to have a handle on all their senses: a feel for what makes a great bar, a good eye for catchy graphics, a fine nose for roasting, and an ear out for some choice sites. Here’s three that we know of. First up is the original, the former roasting shop in Wigan St, composed of two little dwellings that are now home to a good bar.

Farewell to coach Cliff Roberts
- Tawa Swimming Club
- It's with regret that we farewell Cliff Roberts as a coach from Tawa Swimming Club. Anyone who knows of our club will recognise Cliff as he has been a constant poolside. Cliff started coaching with the club when his son Justin joined the club 16 years ago. Cliff started off as a volunteer coach at club level before moving into a coaching position in our junior competitive squads. He also qualified as a national IOT and has acted in that capacity for the club for a number of years.

The Great Escape - Karori Slapperz 3 - Naenae 3

- On a Saturday that everyone assumed the games would be cancelled the mighty Karori Slapperz were transferred to Adventure Park in Whitby. After a mission for some of the fellas to find the park we assembled out the front of the changing rooms on what was actually a fine day for a game of football, sunny with a light southerly breeze. The team managed to pick itself due to injuries and absences.

A City for People
- Decades of inaction have meant house prices are out of control, while old rental properties rot out from underneath us. A whole generation of people are at risk of being forced out from the central city into new suburbs sprawling north, spending hours every day in traffic jams. We believe the Spatial Plan will allow Wellington to plan for the future so that new generations of Wellingtonians can share the city we love, and have a chance to live in a home that is affordable, accessible, healthy and warm.
