All Saints Mass
- St Patricks College, Silverstream
- Tuesday 1 November 2011: All Saints Mass falls on the First of November every year and celebrates the lives of all saints, lives given to helping others. Father John challenged all present to think about social injustice. He used the beattitudes as a framework for asking questions about how we might deal with injustice when we see it occurring in our lives or in the lives of others.

- We’ve already begun discussing issues relevant to the Basin, particularly through blog posts … but this time we’re going back to basics. Core objects of our constitution include: 1. To work for the general improvement of the urban environment. 2. To promote a true understanding of Architecture and Design amongst the community. 3. To consider, critique and recommend changes of law and administration relating to or affecting architecture and urban planning.

Bus shelter for Kanpur Road, Broadmeadows
- Wellington City Council
- More bus shelters are required in the Broadmeadows area. Currently there is only 1 bus stop with a shelter. I am particularly keen on one being installed outside 43 Kanpur Road where due to the driving nature of the weather in this area people gather under the eaves of the garage of 43 Kanpur Road. This stop also caters for a few different roads and is often busy.

Concrete floor, steps and wall cladding
- Rimutaka Incline Railway
- An update on work done on Saturday 7 May 2016 - we placed 2.4m3 of concrete, casting a set of steps into the road 1 inspection pit, and two floor slabs. Complicated form work and a lot of manual concrete placing - but well worth the effort. The steps and floor slabs have tidied up the inspection pit area of the shed, finishing up some loose ends from previous pours.

Northern Men Take Premier 2 Championship For Second Year
- Northern United Hockey Club
- <figure class=" sqs-block-image-figure intrinsic " > Photo by Lewis Bishop The Northern Men’s team have completed a double, winning their Premier 2 grade for the second year running. In a repeat of last years’ final, they met a strong Tawa Titans team, who were looking to complete their commanding season and push for promotion to the top tier competition. Northern’s ‘Honey Badgers’ had met Tawa five times already this season. During regular-season games, they had come out worse off, but in both the two previous finals matches - in the grading round final and the first semifinal, Northern had held the Titans to a draw, before besting them in penalty shoot-outs. It was after that penalty shoot-out win in the semi-finals that Northern went straight through to the grand final, while Tawa had to fight Hutt United in a second semi. The Northern boys, however, had a free weekend after their friendly match was cancelled. Northern went into the match looking like the underdogs, but went 1-nil up early after a mis-timed strike from player-coach Nathan Croad found the back of the net. The Titans had to wait until the second half to reply, taking the score to 1-1, and looking like the teams would be going to shoot-out for a third time. However, a goal from youngster and Capital rep, Samuel Bishop, put the ball away to bring the Badgers back into the lead. While Tawa’s attack was fierce, and keeper Sam French was called upon to make several saves throughout the game, as the clock counted down, the match felt firmly within Northern control. The Northern team continued to push for the entire 70 minutes, with midfielder Olly Wright chasing down a ball hit out of the Northern defensive 25, to take it into the Tawa circle. While Northern wasn’t able to capitalise off Wright’s attack, 2-1 was how the match ended, with the Northern United boys claiming the championship for the second year running.

On the buses
- Eye of the Fish
- I hesitate to even bother to post this, as the topic seems so small and the problem is so easily solved, but apparently the Busdriver’s Tramways Union has been “in discussions” for over 18 months on this topic, and they still don’t have an answer. Jesus wept. The incompetence of people in charge! It is all very solvable, for the price of less than $20. Present situation – with intolerably reflective white surfaces inside The problem, dear reader, is that the new buses, apparently only the electrically powered new buses, are “dangerous” at night as there are too many reflections, caused by bright lights inside the new buses, and the driver cannot safely see the road.

Ten Mad Minutes and the Slapperz go Down
- Karori Slapperz AFC
- An injury-plagued Slapperz journeyed to Petone Memorial 4 to take on the Armani's. With Steve-O and Barts on the sideline nursing aches and pains, we were all hoping for an injury free match. No luck there, I'm afraid, with Gazz limping off after just 1 minute with a nasty looking recurrence of his injury. Fortunately, Striker Barts gallantly came to the rescue and played the remaining 89 minutes up front.

BNU v. Lower Hutt, 0-3

- Without a doubt this was a clash eagerly anticipated by all the BNU players. Come 2:30pm Saturday we would be playing on what was tipped to be the pitch of the season and the surface was the topic of conversation early in the week leading up to the game. The Thistle Inn
- The Thistle Inn was built in 1840. she is the oldest hotel in NZ still trading from the original site. In July 1866 she was burnt to the ground but by December the same year she was back operating. You will see the original beer cellar through the glass floor. She is a Category 1 historic place building and was completely restored in 2004 (as close as possible to how she was in 1866).

San Antonio School
- Welcome to our school …. We’re the “Little School with the Big Heart!” San Antonio is a Roman Catholic Integrated Primary School for girls and boys from Year 1 to Year 8. The school is situated in the beautiful seaside village of Eastbourne, New Zealand. Eastbourne is located on the Wellington Harbour and has a population of 6000 people. The small size of the school fosters the development of a warm and close school community where families interact often and meaningfully. San Antonio’s special character is evident throughout the school in particular in the positive behaviour and attitudes of the children.
