A short history of hut building
- Orongorongo Club

Upper Hutt Rams make history with maiden win, Tawa pull clear to beat HOBM
- Wellington Club Weekly
- Above: Tawa lock Filisione Koloamatangi had a top game in his side's title defence opener at Lyndhurst Park Wellington club rugby round-up week one first edition: A maiden Wellington Premier club rugby win for the Upper Hutt Rams and an ominous warning from defending champions Tawa that they are again the team to beat this year, in an action-packed opening round of Swindale Shield matches played around the Wellington region today. For the most part, the opening round was super-competitive, with only Tawa's six tries to two 50-14 win over the Hutt Old Boys Marist Eagles the only blowout score of the six games played under ashen skies and in a moderate wind...

Every movement must have a counter movement - more on the move to smaller houses

Architects and builders have the ability to design great houses, the issue is whether the market will make the move away from mega houses and whether policy makers can assist with this change. Dinghy adrift as storm approaches
- Coastguard Mana
- Operation Details Date/Time: Tue, 04/03/2014 - 13:30 - 17:00 Operation Type: SAROP Cat 1 People Assisted: 2 Total Volunteer Hours: 21 Police were alerted to a 4m runabout adrift somewhere offshore to the west of Mana Island after breaking down. Communications were via a mobile phone and once Coastguard Mana were dispatched it was determined that they were in fact closer to Hunters Bank near Pukerua Bay. At the same time a severe southerly storm was approaching Wellington. CRV Trust Porirua Rescue with 5 crew members initially had difficulty locating them due to the inaccuracy of the location information given by the people on the boat. They were contacted via telephone and advised that we would release a white parachute flare to help them determine where we were in relation to them. This helped to refine the estimated position meaning that TPR could close in on the area the boat was drifting. Once closer they were advised by the Coastguard Master to activate an orange smoke flare. This was immediately spotted by the CRV crew approximately 3NM away and as they closed in on the smoke they spotted the vessel. The two men on board were getting cold but otherwise well. The fact that they had a means of communication and flares certainly saved them from a potentially disasterous situation as a southerly storm was moving up the country and expected to arrive within an hour or two. Power Plant percussion…
- The Wellingtonista
- Interesting that my reflective sense of the music looking back is percussion, but there are quite a lot of little things banging or rubbing on other things to create unusual and interesting sounds.
