Wellingtom Wander Search Initial Meeting Thursday 5 July 2012
- Wellington VHF Group
- Wellington Wander Search is a group that is being set up to support Police searching for people living with Alzheimers. The group is similar to others operating around NZ and will use the WandaTrak system that has been adopted by organisations such as LandSAR. Members of the VHF Group have initiated this in Wellington, based on our interest in the technology, Radio Direction Finding (RDF or "fox hunting") and our association through AREC with search and rescue organisations. One area we are keen to explore is improvements to the system or effective alternatives.

The Big Blue Planet Earth Show opens July 12th
- Drama Christi
- The Big Blue Planet Earth Show was first performed in March 1991 during the Fringe Festival at Bats Theatre in Wellington, directed by Gary Henderson. It is a quite confronting and thought provoking piece about the environmental issues of the time. Sadly those issues are still confronting us now with even more urgency. Having said that there are heaps of funny moments throughout the play.

Upper Hutt Football
- Upper Hutt City Football, as the club is now known, was formed following the amalgamation of three separate football clubs. Club football originated in Upper Hutt with the formation of Upper Hutt United in the 1920s and Tararua United formed as an alternative Club in the 1970s. Upper Valley Wanderers formed in the 1980s as an independent Club for Women’s Football. In the late 1990s the three Clubs amalgamated, with new Clubrooms built at Harcourt Park, as the Tararua Sports Club. A meeting convened in 1998 agreed that all football teams would play as Upper Hutt City Soccer in acknowledgement of the club’s links with and support from the local Upper Hutt City community.
