- Operation Details Date/Time: Sun, 24/04/2016 - 22:50 - Mon, 25/04/2016 - 01:00 Operation Type: SAROP Cat 1 People Assisted: 2 Total Volunteer Hours: 13 33 foot keeler went aground at entrance to the channel at Ngatitoa. Vessel stuck fast with tide incoming. Vessel still stuck at high tide and would not budge. Mana Rescue 1 was able to secure a line to the vessel and eventually pull her off the sandbar. She was towed to deeper water then made her way to Mana under her own steam. We responded in MR1 to tow him back to Mana Marina but didn't find anyone. He contacted us later to say that he had managed to recover himself by swimming the jetski back to the ramp between the bridges at Plimmerton. Mayday call from broken down vessel

- Operation Details Date/Time: Wed, 20/05/2020 - 13:15 - 15:30 Operation Type: SAROP Cat 1 People Assisted: 2 Total Volunteer Hours: 9 A vessel broke down up towards Pukerua Bay. It was towed back towards Mana but then dropped out in the bay off Plimmerton and told to get someone else to take them in, or they'd pick them up again on the way back from fishing. The vessel appeared to be taking on water so the skipper placed a Mayday call, which Maritime Radio responded to. Police then tasked us to respond to tow them in. - It was amazing being part of an estimated 43000 starters in the 40th New York marathon on the 1 November 2009. The conditions for running were ideal, the course was challenging, the pavement was unforgiving, the crowds were phenomenal and the whole New York experience for my self and Kathy was fantastic.

Johnsonville hoping to soar again in Premier rugby

- Somewhat lost amongst the resurgence of the Wellington Axemen and former Premier powerhouse Avalon during the Senior 1 competition have been the quiet performances of Johnsonville in taking out the first round Harper Lock Shield (see photo above), bringing with it Hardham Cup rugby and the opportunity to return to the Premier grade.

Porirua Hospital Museum
- The Porirua Hospital Museum and Resource Centre is housed in F-Ward, built in 1909 as part of the Porirua Hospital campus. It records the history of the development of mental health services in New Zealand from what can be considered their inception in 1844. The Museum, a Category 1 historic place, contains a collection of artefacts from the history of Porirua Hospital, including its time as a psychiatric facility.

The Thistle Inn
- The Thistle Inn was built in 1840. she is the oldest hotel in NZ still trading from the original site. In July 1866 she was burnt to the ground but by December the same year she was back operating. You will see the original beer cellar through the glass floor. She is a Category 1 historic place building and was completely restored in 2004 (as close as possible to how she was in 1866).

San Antonio School
