You can book your learning conversation session(s) now by going to https://www.schoolinterviews.co.nz and using the correct code(s) for your student(s): Juniors Year 9-10: Code f7ajr Seniors Years 11-13: Code q63q Please note: The Learning Conversation is a conversation between the student, the student’s rōpū teacher and parent(s) / caregiver(s). The teacher will help the student to lead the discussion and reflect on progress so far. Students will develop up to three goals that they would like to achieve through this year.     2017 Year Books The 2017 Yearbooks have now arrived in school and will be distributed next week to all students, staff and families who have already ordered copies. Apologies for the delay with the publication — but we think they look great so we hope you’ll feel it was worth the wait!     Entertainment Books  You can order online www.entertainmentbook.co.nz/orderbooks/104r121 or you can hand your order form to Student Services with either cash or credit card details.  Membership costs $65 and $13 goes towards our general fundraising efforts.       Last call for photo orders  If you haven’t yet handed in your photo order envelope, please do so as soon as possible – last day is 9th March, however Student Services will be collecting late orders next week only. You can still order online – parents please use the SHOOT KEY on your envelope.       Simply Dental Simply Dental forms are available from reception to enrol with the on site Dental Caravan Service at Wellington High School.       Unwell students We have had a steady stream of students coming to the sick bay this week, and there seems to be a virus/bug going around. Please keep your young person at home if they are unwell. This gives them time to recover and prevents the spread of illness around other students and staff. You can inform us of their absence via the WHS app, via phone (04) 802 7673 or via email: absences@whs.school.nz

    • Circa's Programming Process
      • Ever wanted to know how Circa chooses the plays it produces? The Circa Council is hard at work on the programme for 2014, so it seemed a good opportunity to explain to drama on the waterfront how the programming process works at Circa. Circa’s programme is the life-blood of our theatre. The Circa Council is responsible for all programming decisions and reads a large number of plays each year in order to settle on a programme which strives to match our vision: “We believe a great theatre experience inspires, entertains, transforms and nourishes the human spirit”. Circa Theatre welcomes approaches from established professional theatre directors. We have developed a two step process: 1. In the first instance, we ask directors to submit a short CV or bio along with the script of the play. We send an acknowledgement that we have received the submission, however it could then be up to six months  (depending on when it is submitted) before we respond regarding the way forward while the submission is circulated amongst the Circa Council members. All submissions are read by the Council, from which a shortlist is determined. At that stage the Circa Council will invite shortlisted directors to make a pitch for a season at the theatre. 2. Up to two 'Pitch Presentation Days’ are scheduled each year for Directors to present their pitch to the Circa Council. The programme will then be confirmed based on these pitches. If there are some slots in the programme that are still vacant after the first Pitch Presentation Day, there will be a second Pitch Presentation Day. All directors who work at Circa are required to go through the pitch process. The programme is in development for much of the year - the Council accepts submissions up to the end of June, with the Pitch Days taking place in July and September. The final programme isn't decided until the end of September, and it is kept under wraps while we create the annual brochure that is released each year at the Thorndon Fair. So stay tuned for Sunday, 1 December, to find out what 2014 will have in store for you at Circa Theatre!

    • Farewell Pānui Te Motu Kairangi
      • After careful consideration, the team behind Pānui Te Motu Kairangi – the Miramar Peninsula Newsletter – has decided to end on a high note, announcing that the lucky 13th edition, published in Spring this year, will be the last. Since its first edition in December 2020, around 50,000 copies of this printed community newsletter have been hand-delivered to peninsula letterboxes. Pānui shared local events and stories and reflected the diversity of the Miramar, Seatoun and Strathmore Park communities. Pānui was a collaboration between the Miramar and Maupuia Community Centre, Seatoun Village Hall and Strathmore Park Community Centres. The publication team was committed to Pānui remaining largely advertisement-free and says that the decision not to continue it was due to the ongoing pressures to fund it.

Rhys Morgan had this to say about the start to the competition, “The CricHQ U19s had a pretty tough start to the competition this year. What has been pleasing is seeing the improvement in the team in recent weeks. This shows the ability of the group to learn lessons and apply those learnings in competitive situations.” Sriram Krishnamurthy put a lot of the development in the squad down to the benefit of being able to use high quality training facilities. “For the past six weeks we have been able train on grass at the Basin Reserve. • A City for People
      • Decades of inaction have meant house prices are out of control, while old rental properties rot out from underneath us.
