This Rugged Beauty
- Binge Culture Collective
- Rehearsals for This Rugged Beauty are going really nicely. It starts Tuesday 25th. It's been fantastic and very satisfying to come back to this show again after having time to think about it, absorb feedback, and let it ferment. It's a show we've been developing since 2010, when we did our first explorations around the idea of kiwi identity and our relationship with it. What we're presenting this time contains many elements of the first 2011 season [...]

Women gone wolf
- Binge Culture Collective
- The Binge women have been running wild for the last few months, devising a new work called Wolf. The performance is directed by Claire O'Loughlin, performed by Rachel Baker, Fiona McNamara and Isobel MacKinnon, with sound by Stephanie Cairns and the image below by Hannah Newport-Watson. The wolves say: "In this work we are rejecting pre-conceived notions of how human beings should or shouldn't look and beh [...]

Taking stock
- Binge Culture Collective
- Last weekend we had a big hui where we took stock of where we've been and where we're going, what we do and how we operate. We got a little dreamy but the earthquake shook us back to reality, which is why we decided we need another even bigger hui in August. Because our dreams are so potentially earthquake inducing we're taking this next one to Hawkes Bay (where they have no history of quakes...) So stay [...]

More Ruggeder, more beautiful
- Binge Culture Collective
- We're in the middle of rehearsals for 'This Rugged Beauty' at the moment. We've reworked the structure, taken some stuff out, added a lot of new things and taken a whole new approach to the design. It's that exciting stage of the process now where we know the rules and purpose of the show, so we get to click the bits together and find more connections and resonances between sections- very satisfying to place the middle bits of the jigsaw now we hav [...]
