Rovers Too Talented
- Zephyr Rovers FC
- Zephyr Rovers demolished the Astronomically Talented team today at the Shed of Dreams. "We gave away a silly goal early on and I was wondering if the guys were tuned in" said Zephyr Rovers Manager Steve Hall "but we went on with it from there and it was clear there was only one talented team on the pitch and it wasn't them".

Back On Form
- Zephyr Rovers FC
- The return of Matty Cantwell (pictured) and Jamie Johnston provided firepower for Rovers in a return to form at the Shed of Dreams. "I probably should confess it also saw the return of Player Chariman George Nash who played part of both halves up front" said Hall "but he looked a bit underdone and struggled to find both the net and his breath".

Exhibition - Deborah Barton
- The Wellingtonista
- Deborah Barton is a Wellington-based print maker. She has done a number of exhibitions, and is about to open at the Solander Gallery in Lyall Bay this Saturday, 13 October. Deborah's prints are dark and intriguing, with overtones of childhood mysteries. And now for the good news. As a young artist Deborah's work is surprisingly reasonably priced... Need I say more.

Tunnel vision
- WellUrban
- The long-delayed Ngauranga to Airport Transport Study has finally come back with some options for public consultation. It'll take a while for me to crunch through the many megabytes of reports, brochures and forms, but for the meantime I'll just point you to the Dominion Post's barely restrained glee at the prospect of more roads and tunnels, and frogblog's reasonably measured response.

sisomo Groove 2009
- St Patricks College, Silverstream
- Saturday 12 September 2009: Stream's annual performance festival was again a great success. A sell-out crowd enjoyed fine music while nibbles and drinks were provided. Styles ranged across funk, jazz, grunge and barber shop, ably compered by Year 10 students, Josh Blaikie and Aaron Conlon. Outside the auditorium, student art work was on display, shone against the school's buildings.

- A huge congratulations to all the players who trialled for both the U11 and U13 teams - Harbour City was well represented and the players all worked hard at the trials - particularly as the trials were at such an unsociable time on a Sunday morning! Hello, Kitties
- The Wellingtonista
- You know there's that cat you see on the way to the bus stop - the one that rolls around on the footpath and lets you tickle his belly, and you've nicknamed him Captain Choicepants? Well, that's a neighbourhood cat. Inspired by the Neighbour Cats zines, Petra Jane has created a public Google map of neighbourhood cats around Wellington and beyond.

"Please don't forget to tag off" finally tags off
- The Wellingtonista
- You know when you tag on with a Snapper and the voice goes "PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO TAG OFF"? Well, duh. Snapper have realised that these voice alerts are kind of annoying and/or unnecessary; and that we as public transport users have learned how the magical fish box works, so they're updating the Snapper sounds. Basin flyover: another week of opposition
- Wellington Scoop
- It’s hard to find anyone who likes the NZ Transport Agency’s plans for a 380-metre-long flyover alongside the Basin Reserve. Starting at the Mt Victoria Tunnel, the structure would carry two lanes of vehicles above Ellice Street and Kent and Cambridge Terraces and discharge them at the Tory Street traffic lights. The flyover would be a dismal eyesore across the cityscape.

Farewell Blanket Man
- Eye of the Fish
- Since this is a blog devoted to the city of Wellington and its sense of place I can’t imagine that we could not mention his death. He was a permanent fixture of the streets of Wellington and was a bit of the spirit that, for me at least (and clearly others), made this city the interesting place it is to be.

Submit on the Wellington City Council Community Draft Annual Plan now. Don’t dither!
- Bryan Pepperell - Back To The Future
- Submit on the Wellington City Council Community Draft Annual Plan now. Don’t dither! Democracy only works when we all participate. With low turnouts at election time and poor participation rates in the Council Community Annual and Long Term Council Community Plans, outcomes can get distorted. If you don’t vote and participate in the process then you shouldn’t complain about the outcome.

Every movement must have a counter movement - more on the move to smaller houses
- Iona Pannett
- Good to see more discussion on the move towards building smaller houses as costs escalate and more Councils move towards denser housing policies. Architects and builders have the ability to design great houses, the issue is whether the market will make the move away from mega houses and whether policy makers can assist with this change.
