Samhain

- Samhain (sow-en) marks the descent towards the darkest nights of the year, and is a time when the liminal zone between the living and the dead is said to be at its thinnest. Come down to Princess Bay, engage with the spirits and watch the end of summer go down in flames to live music.

Take 5!! #11
- Slow Boat Records
- Today, folks, a terrific Take 5 selection from one of our absolute faves, Tamaki Makaurau pop-rockers The Beths!! Having had their world domination plans in 2020 cruelly curtailed by that pesky pandemic, they instead doubled down with an extended tour of Aotearoa, including no less than FIVE Wellington performances in three days, along with their emotional homecoming at the Auckland Town Hall, now captured on their soon-come live double LP "Auckland, New Zealand 2020), which we should have in stock just as soon as our biggest city makes it out of Level 4 lockdown...1- The B-52's "Love Shack" (Live at The Pavillion, the Woodlands, TX 1990)2- Momma "Double Dare"3- fanclubwallet "Car Crash in G Major"4- Kathy McCord "I'm Leaving Home (She's Leaving Home)"5- Willie Griffin "I Love You"Thank you, Beths - superb!!

- Wellington Live Music
- Some of the crowd at ValveSolid rock with an almost operatic vocal style is how I would attempt to describe Riverblind in one sentence. Lead singer/guitarist Dave Kempton has an incredibly powerful, smooth and melodic voice. Backed up with solid drums from Tim Whitta, and Dan Simpson throwing himself around the stage with his 6 string bass, these guys are a surprisingly powerful live act.

Statues or Fun?
- Sharon Blaikie
- So, $350 000 for a statue that will be passe in a couple of years. One of those statues like the Queen Victoria ones that cities try to fob off on each other. Yet, those events that help to make Wellington a great place to live or visit like the Cuba Street Carnival and the Newtown Fair can't be held for lack of money. How absurd!

A City for People
- Decades of inaction have meant house prices are out of control, while old rental properties rot out from underneath us. A whole generation of people are at risk of being forced out from the central city into new suburbs sprawling north, spending hours every day in traffic jams. We believe the Spatial Plan will allow Wellington to plan for the future so that new generations of Wellingtonians can share the city we love, and have a chance to live in a home that is affordable, accessible, healthy and warm.
