Azúcar / Sugar
- Toi Pōneke
- What is the connection between sugar, colonisation, global trade and climate change? Azucar/Sugar is an explorative gallery experience that uses sugar sculptures, videos and digital art to trace how European and US conquest terraformed the environment from a living entity that encompassed the living spirits of the land, water, plants, animals and humans into an inert repository of resources to be harvested and harnessed for profit. Azucar/Sugar is the latest installation from With Lime, the long-standing collaboration between William Franco and Miki Seifert.

Greater Wellington endorses bold investment vision for regional rail services
- Metlink
- Greater Wellington Regional Council endorsed a bold and visionary plan for regional rail services this week. The Wellington Rail Programme Business Case, a 30-year customer-driven strategic investment plan, outlines what is required beyond current investment to help drive the region’s economic development and social wellbeing in an environmentally and socially sustainable and resilient manner. It covers the passenger services and infrastructure needed to deliver a modern transit system, and the network infrastructure required to support this system while also enabling a growing freight operation.

Blenheim Tournament
- Wgtn U-13 Hatch Cup Team 2009 Blog
- Last weekend we went to Blenheim to play in a mini tournament against Marlborough, Nelson and Canterbury. Our first 2 games against Marlborough and Nelson went well with good team work and 11-0 and 6-0 wins. Our coaches Nigel and Subs were reasonably happy, but we did miss a few opportunities. Our game against Canterbury was to be our big match of the weekend. Unfortunately, half our team were struggling with food poisoning and sickness so we performed well below our best, losing 6-1.

LGWM: doomed to failure?
- Wellington Scoop
- Like many of us, I’ve spent the better part of my career in Wellington working in and around the public sector. As the years and the experience accumulate, it gets easier to see the patterns of behaviour of agencies and organisations and politicians – their ways of operating, if you will. And one of those ways of operating means that Let’s Get Wellington Moving is likely doomed to failure.

With the final hour counting down people packed in to watch them complete such a mammoth task and everyone there shared the emotions of their triumph.

Premier v Karori - 30/05/09 - L 3-1
- Island Bay United AFC
- Our Saturday trip away to Karori proved just why Wellington needs Artificial Grounds and fast. Unfortunately, this Karori Park is Wellington's latest pitch, and what a waste of money it's proving to be. I'm sure it's great during Summer, when Mums and Dads can happily stroll their Prams across the park to the cafe and playground, but it's not much chop when you need a snorkel to kick off and it's

Things to come on the harbour’s edge
- Wellington Scoop
- Amongst all the details of new roads and ramps and car parks, there’s some enthusiasm about cycling and walking in the Regional Council’s new ten-year plan for transport from Ngauranga to Te Marua. In particular, there’s a strong recommendation for a good quality cycling and walking route between Ngauranga and Petone. Regional Council chair Fran Wilde says it is one of the major projects in the plan.

Work in progress 7 March 2015
- Rimutaka Incline Railway
- Bart and Graeme have done a wonderful job tending to the native shrubs and trees planted at our Maymorn site. A host of native shrubs and trees have been planted alongside our future mainline formation to the Kaitoke side of the pedestrian crossing. The plants have taken despite the arduous ground conditions and occasional accidental dose of weedspray - a vast improvement over the gorse and blackberry the previously occupied the area.
