BNU Womens 2nd Team 03/05/2009
- Brooklyn Northern United AFC
- BNU ‘coast’ through with a 3-1 win over Kapiti (Kapiti 1 – BNU 3) The Brooklyn ladies’ second team started off the week very well with two highly placed teams in the pub quiz. It is worthy of mention that neither of the teams exceeded the maximum number of competitors – unlike The Brazilians (aka The Thirds) who appeared to think that 8 players is the same as 5… hmmm ;-) But, we’re not bitter, an

BNU Pretenders v Western Suburbs Cartridge World 6th May 2012
- Brooklyn Northern United AFC
- It would have been nice to give Daniel something to smile about this weekend after the FA cup final and the BNU Mens Capital 5 derby results. Instead we made it a losing trifecta. Part of the reason may have been that we were playing a bunch of very physical schoolgirls who were sticklers for the rules. We had HAPS on the sideline and they had DADS, who were even more vocal.

- College Sport Wellington
- Please find the following information and newsletter relating to the NZ Secondary School Track, Field and Road Race Championships, being held in Newtown Stadium in 6-8 December 2019 Newsletter One Guideline Programme The following changes (in red) have been made to the programme: In order to avoid a clash of High and Triple Jumps for the Junior Boys the Junior/PA Boys and Junior/PA Girls High Jumps have been swapped. The boys will now compete on Sunday at 9.00am and the girls on Saturday at 3.30pm. This also improves the spread of jumps for the girls. As a result of interest in having mixed girls and boys 4×400m relays the NZSSAA Executive has decided to trial this as a pilot event for both grades for 2019/20. Conditions of entry: Teams are to made up of 2 boys and 2 girls Any individual school team or a combined team from two single gender schools within the same region (as defined for the Cross Country Relay Championships) may enter Only 1 team per grade from each school or combined schools may enter An athlete may only compete in one 4×400m relay Schools entering teams in the 4×400m relays are asked to please consider carefully the number of events their athletes are involved in and the possibility that they may be overloaded by doing relays in addition to their individual events The post Newsletter- NZSSAA Track, Field and Road Race Championships appeared first on College Sport Wellington.

CubaDupa presents GO HOME STAY HOME
- Cubadupa
- CubaDupa Presents Go Home Stay Home, a Live-Streamed Musical Happening Wellington festival set to unite the community through virtual music festival Following the cancellation of CubaDupa, the festival team have been working on a remedy—a virtual way to celebrate the creativity and community that would have taken over Cuba Street on the 28th and 29th March, with over 1500 artists and 450 performances throughout Wellington’s favourite precinct. And so, Go Home Stay Home – a live-streamed virtual festival has been arranged to keep you smiling through week four of lockdown with a selection of the CubaDupa 2020 artists. Festival Director Gerry Paul says “This is a way of keeping the CubaDupa fire burning until we next hit the streets. And it’s a time when the creativity and talent of our artists are playing such an important part in keeping us sane and inspired – so tune in and come together in solidarity – he waka eke noa!” The programme for Go Home Stay Home may be on a micro scale compared to the monumental street festival, but you can expect it to be bursting with the same energy and vibrancy CubaDupa is known for. On Saturday 18 April from 5 pm, settle in for an evening of sweet tunes from fresh local artists alongside well-loved homegrown acts, streaming live on the CubaDupa Facebook page. Auckland alt-pop-rock band Ha the Unclear will join us from the comfort of their bubble, along with Miss June who will treat the audience to a solo set—a rare occurrence for the noisy, energetic punk rock four-piece. After a two year stint in London, Wellington rapper Name UL is back, along with the always engaging Same Name Confusion, synth-maestro Dayle Jellyman, dream pop songwriter Nikita 雅涵 Tu-Bryant and rising alt-pop artist RIIKI. Usually a band of seven musicians, Dr Reknaw will present a special stripped back solo set, and Maori world-roots performer Māmā Mihirangi will also perform solo. The Ping Pong Party People will wrap up the night with a 90s trance party that’ll scratch your dancing itch. A special thanks goes to WellingtonNZ and the Wellington City Council for their support on this initiative and making Go Home Stay Home possible. CubaDupa is encouraging viewers to donate to MusicHelps, the New Zealand charity that provides vital support to members of the New Zealand music community in times of illness, distress and hardship. There will be a donate button on the Go Home Stay Home live stream for viewers to contribute to MusicHelps. CubaDupa Presents Go Home Stay Home will be free to watch on the CubaDupa Facebook page from 5:00 pm NZST Saturday 18 April. Here is the schedule: Ha the Unclear 5:00 PM 5:20 PM Māmā Mihirangi 5:30 PM 5:50 PM Dayle Jellyman 6:00 PM 6:20 PM Same Name Confusion 6:30 PM 6:50 PM Name UL 7:00 PM 7:20 PM KITA 7:30 PM 7:50 PM Dr Reknaw 8:00 PM 8:20 PM Miss June 8:30 PM 8:50 PM RIIKI 9:00 PM 9:20 PM Ping Pong Party People 9:30 PM 9:45 PM For quick access to our artist pages, click the following link. https://linktr.ee/cubadupa To head straight to the CubaDupa facebook page for live streaming, click the following link. A ride that could be ruined
- Wellington Scoop
- Biking around the bays is a stunning ride. But it could be ruined if traffic trebles. Cyclists will be forced off the road. Next Wednesday, Wellington City Councillors vote on a proposal to develop Shelly Bay, permitting a giant housing and shopping development. But there’s no plan to upgrade Shelly Bay Road. That could mean 3-4 vehicles every minute along a narrow road, trying to pass on blind corners. Cyclists could be expected to share a 1.5 metre path with pedestrians.

Bumper year for records in store
- Swimming Wellington
- If the recent SW Short Course champs is anything to go by, 2007/08 looks set to be a bumper year for local and national records set by Wellington swimmers. 28 local and 4 national records were broken at the meet, beating the 27 local and one national record set in 2005/06. Wellington swimmers are well on track to surpass the 59 SW and 8 SNZ records broken in 05/06 and we still have 7 months to go!

A New Farm for Ohariu
- Eye of the Fish
- It has been confirmed that Meridian Energy plans to build a new wind farm in the Ohariu Valley, with 31 turbines across 4000 hectares. The proposed site is owned by 5 farmers, who banded together in 2002 to negotiate proposals with various energy companies. Talks had stalled over price issues in 2003, but recently an agreement has been reached. Having met with the community last night, it is unclear whether the project will face significant opposition from the local residents.

Take two: spotlight goes on solving problems through drama
- Dramatic enactment of significant life situations can help people work through issues as diverse as drug taking, cancer recovery, sexual abuse, adoption, or death of a loved one—and the casting call is out for Wellingtonians. A special weekend workshop using psychodrama is to be held 4-6 May in Alpha Street’s The Training Space. “Putting yourself centre stage in a safe and understanding space helps people to strengthen their sense of self, their relationships and their effectiveness within a group,” says workshop leader, John Faisandier.

Wellington City Rural Fire Force
- The Wellington Regional Council formed the WCRFF in 1993. Originally the Force shared residence with the Wellington Free Ambulance at Newtown. The Force moved to its’ own station in Burma Road Johnsonville, in December 1999 and stayed there for 3 ½ years. As the crew numbers increased and the purchase of the tanker the Wellington City Council moved our location to Tawa Depot on the 12th July 2003. Our current station gives us the opportunity to increase our crew numbers to our desired benchmark of 30 as well as housing our entire fleet, which currently consists of 6 vehicles, 4 trailers and a Communication Caravan.
