Training Day 31 July
- St James' Anglican Church
- Training Days are rapidly approaching. They are for everyone in any parish or mission unit, so share the news widely! We are building on earlier in the year, our theme being Missio Dei: Joining God’s Mission in our World, with our guest presenter, Reverend Bree Mills, from Australia, and a range of speakers investing in this theme. See the Movement website for more details. First Training Day is on 31 July at Samuel Marsden Collegiate, Karori, and the second on 7 August at Central Baptist, Palmerston North. We travel for family, so if you can’t make the southern one, consider getting to the northern event (or vice versa). Please pray that we are all COVID-free so we can enjoy being together.

Holy Week and Easter Programme
- St James' Anglican Church
- Come and journey with us to the Cross and the Resurrection. Holy Week and Easter programme We are entering the most dramatic time of the year for Christians… on Sunday 28th March we celebrate Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem as the crowd waved palms and cheered him on with excitement. But soon their cheers turned to jeers, and in less than a week Jesus was hanging on the Romans’ infamous instrument of torture… the Cross. The tradition of keeping the six weeks of Lent helps prepare us for the coming drama, and gets us in the mood and the frame of mind to enter into the drama ourselves. But sometimes the busy-ness and ordinariness of life takes us out of it again. It’s hard to stay focused on the story… to keep mindful of the journey towards Jerusalem and the Cross, when we are busy travelling to and from work, and when home, community activities and family issues are demanding our attention. We can’t do it on our own… we need the support of one another. And so we invite you to come and be part of our Holy Week and Easter Liturgies. Jesus, in his suffering and death committed himself fully to us. In the joy and wonder of resurrection God shows us that we are never abandoned. In grateful response, let us celebrate together this great gift of God’s life, so freely given for us and to us. We invite you to mark the dates and times on your calendar; come and be with us in the struggle and sorrow of the power of the Holy Week liturgies; journey with Jesus to the Cross on Good Friday; and live again the joy and astonishment of new life in the Resurrection in our Easter Day celebrations.May you know the depth and power of God’s love this Easter season.
