- Brendan Quirke competed in the inaugural Air New Zealand Hawke’s Bay International Marathon Saturday 14 May 2016 despite hot conditions and a tough second half he completed the 42.2 km in 03:23:06, 28th overall and 3rd in 40-49 years. Well done Brendan.

- Operation Details Date/Time: Sun, 24/04/2016 - 22:50 - Mon, 25/04/2016 - 01:00 Operation Type: SAROP Cat 1 People Assisted: 2 Total Volunteer Hours: 13 33 foot keeler went aground at entrance to the channel at Ngatitoa. Vessel stuck fast with tide incoming. Vessel still stuck at high tide and would not budge. Mana Rescue 1 was able to secure a line to the vessel and eventually pull her off the sandbar. She was towed to deeper water then made her way to Mana under her own steam. Parent representatives are Chris Roberts, Deanne Daysh, Ariana Tikao, Crane Amaru, and Kasey McDonnell. Charlene Aramoana continues in her role as staff representative. Mrinali Kumar and Devin Pike are our student representatives for 2016. At the first meeting, Ganesh Nana was co-opted back onto the board and re-elected as Chairperson for the duration of 2016. This is in order to ensure a smooth transition for the new board. Meeting Dates 27 July, 22 August, 19 September, 17 October, 21 November 2016 at 6.15pm in the Staffroom at WHS. Mau Whenua | Save Shelly Bay
- Mau Whenua is a collective of Taranaki Whānui iwi members who made their opposition to proposed sale of iwi land at Shelly Bay known in late 2015 and early 2016. The land at Shelly Bay is highly significant and represents over 50% of the value of Taranaki Whānui Treaty Settlement assets in Wellington. The term Mau Whenua describes those who oppose land sales, and are determined to hold onto land and engage in environmentally and socially constructive development.
