Mt McKerrow – Remutaka Forest Park

Back on track: not so new
- WellUrban
- Most of you will have noticed the front-page headline in yesterday's Dominion Post: $200m to ease Wellington rail misery. The more observant among you may have noticed that the improvements mentioned in the sidebar (not online) don't quite add up to $200m, but a slightly less impressive $135m. The even more observant (and presumably long-suffering) among you might also have noticed that many of the upgrades sounded very familiar. Is this really news?

Broken steering
- Coastguard Mana
- Operation Details Date/Time: Tue, 05/01/2021 - 11:00 - 15:00 Operation Type: SAROP Cat 1 People Assisted: 2 Total Volunteer Hours: 16 7m runabout had steering failure whilst anchored up diving/fishing on the west coast near Boom Rock. They called CG Radio and gave their location as Titahi Bay. MR1 responded and was unable to locate the vessel anywhere in the Titahi Bay area and their phone was out of coverage. Escalated to Police to assist with enquiring about their location (as we had no way of contacting them). Police eventually managed to get a call connected long enough for them to say 4km south of Titahi Bay. We found them 3.6NM (6.6km) south of Titahi Bay and towed them home to Mana Marina. - Operation Details Date/Time: Sun, 07/11/2021 - 18:30 - 21:30 Operation Type: CG Operation (good samaritan) People Assisted: 6 Total Volunteer Hours: 12 Whilst searching for a vessel that had broken down with 4 pob and requested a tow home as a non-member we discovered another one that had broken down on "the bridge" near Mana Island. We marked their location and told them we would be back for them once we had located the first vessel. We found the first vessel under tow by someone else coming back into the channel. After confirming that it was them and that they no longer required our assistance (a non-member tow that would have cost them money) we returned to the second vessel. Wellington: screwed

- So not only are many of our buildings going to collapse – but it seems that the very building that houses our city council is an earthquake risk. Given how vital the WCC will be to any disaster efforts, this is very scary. The article is very light on details – particularly how much it would cost to fix the problem. If anyone has any more information – please send it through.

Nada Bakery
- Nada Bakery has always been a family business with Peter's wife Judith heavily involved and their three children including son Michael began baking at a young age. So when Peter sadly passed away in 2005 it made perfect sense for Judith and Michael to take over the business. In 2010, they expanded to Tawa opening a new bakery and cafe where customers could dine in on the amazing baked goods and great coffee and, in 2017, opened The Bakery Basket an online branch with delivery across New Zealand.
