    • Supreme and Enduring Awards
      • Two central Wellington buildings have won awards at the NZIA’s national awards ceremony in Auckland, according to the Dompost. Both of them are pretty fantastic, and have won awards before - there’s the new Conservation House by Architecture + (completed only a year or so ago) and then there is Massey House by Cedric Firth and Ernest Plishke, some 50 years before.

    • Lizzie almost back home
      • Lizzie has arrived! Thanks to many generous donations, she was trucked down from Auckland yesterday and is now on the hard at Evans Bay, stirring up a great deal of interest. Before long, she will be sitting on the slipway at Clyde Quay for her restoration, no more than 20 feet away from where she was built 101 years ago.

      • Today, folks, a terrific Take 5 selection from one of our absolute faves, Tamaki Makaurau pop-rockers The Beths!! Having had their world domination plans in 2020 cruelly curtailed by that pesky pandemic, they instead doubled down with an extended tour of Aotearoa, including no less than FIVE Wellington performances in three days, along with their emotional homecoming at the Auckland Town Hall, now captured on their soon-come live double LP "Auckland, New Zealand 2020), which we should have in stock just as soon as our biggest city makes it out of Level 4 lockdown...1- The B-52's "Love Shack" (Live at The Pavillion, the Woodlands, TX 1990)2- Momma "Double Dare"3- fanclubwallet "Car Crash in G Major"4- Kathy McCord "I'm Leaving Home (She's Leaving Home)"5- Willie Griffin "I Love You"Thank you, Beths - superb!!

    • It ain't easy being Green (Cabs)
      • Our favourite cab company has expanded to Auckland and Christchurch and are doing pretty well in both. But it's not all expansion and increasing profits. Recently the eco-friendly cab company has had to defend itself against statements from the head of the Taxi Federation. Then they had to fend off claims from other taxi companies (Combined in this case) that they were also "green".
