Te Rae Kai Hau Point - Keep It Natural!
- Bryan Pepperell - Back To The Future
- This is my seventh year in the battle to Save Te Rae Kai Hau Point. As seven is a special number I see this as a positive year to do things. It has been seven years where many people have played a part in opposing the shameful proposed Marine Education Centre ( Fish Zoo and Cafe) on this wonderful piece of natural heritage.

Competitive memorial

- The Ministry for Culture and Heritage has done the right thing and called for a competition to design the Buckle St New Zealand Memorial Park that I mentioned last month. It's not a completely public competition like the original Waitangi Park design process, so don't rush out and send in an entry unless you've got a good architectural CV to your name.

Public Service 11 vs Upper Hutt 1
- Brooklyn Northern United AFC
- We racked up another good score, but the Public Service left Upper Hutt a little deflated as we pretty much let the Upper Hutt Slayers (UHS) off the hook. The final score will show a command performance by the BNU Public Service, winning 11 goals to one. But with a 7-1 half time lead, it should have been much, much greater.

Safety and Harassment in Wellington's Clubs
- Salient
- Wellington is facing growing concerns over the safety of its night-time venues. A survey conducted by Salient, comprising responses from over a hundred students across various academic years, paints a stark picture of the current state of club safety. In our survey, over 75% of students responded that they had felt unsafe at at least one of Wellington’s nightclub venues.

- Among the various items on the agenda of the recent Waterfront Development Subcommittee meeting was a review of Waitangi Park. There are five separate PDFs to download there, including a survey of park users and an interesting quantitative study of which sections of the park were being used and when, but the guts of the report is a large tabular Design Quality Audit.

Exhibition - Deborah Barton
- The Wellingtonista
- Deborah Barton is a Wellington-based print maker. She has done a number of exhibitions, and is about to open at the Solander Gallery in Lyall Bay this Saturday, 13 October. Deborah's prints are dark and intriguing, with overtones of childhood mysteries. And now for the good news. As a young artist Deborah's work is surprisingly reasonably priced... Need I say more.

A City for People
- Decades of inaction have meant house prices are out of control, while old rental properties rot out from underneath us. A whole generation of people are at risk of being forced out from the central city into new suburbs sprawling north, spending hours every day in traffic jams. We believe the Spatial Plan will allow Wellington to plan for the future so that new generations of Wellingtonians can share the city we love, and have a chance to live in a home that is affordable, accessible, healthy and warm.
